If I had a fireplace, maybe, but I'll go where it's warm, to heck with the rest.

Stay safe Frey. I remember the ice storm we had in 2008. I lost power for 6 days. We needed the Canadian utility companies to come down and rescue us.

    Winter Is Coming.

I can't remember the last time our power went out.

We had one in 07 (this one is supposed to be even worse sadly) it knocked the transformer out and it also knocked the line from my house to the pole down as well. People around me had power within 2 days. I had to wait about 3 weeks to get power again, we were living in a friend of mines Tae Kwon do school for a week or two then my parents finally got power so we moved into their place for the rest.

I hope if we do lose power that it's nothing like the last time.

Whist I have been in extreme heat, I have never experienced the wild winter weather some of you guys do, honestly, when I read it, it's hard for me to imagine, so much so I read some of this stuff out to my wife.

The idea that a mental ice storm well knock out your power is totally alien to me.

I feel like I need to see it for myself

It happens here maybe once a year, but it's never for more than 30 minutes or so.

It sucks...I wouldn't be so apprehensive about it, but I've been through this crap before and it sucked...BAD

We lose power due to thunderstorms 2-3 times a year for an hour or two at time.

More snow then it'll be in the negatives for the highs and lows all week. I'm going to Slick's.

I did that in the ice storm in 08. Now I have a generator (actually 2 now) so I fire up the furnace and fridge and I'm good to go,
