Default North's 2012 mock draft (Yes, still better than SoCal's)

In my opinion right now Denver will finish with
around 5-6 wins. So that will probably put us around
pick 6 or 7 in the draft. With this in mind and
with the question of Tebow and Quinn still in the air
i think Fox and company will go with continuing to
build some of the other pieces and take a risk on
a QB later in the draft.

Denver will still have to work on the run stop so
moving a little bit back is in order here. So a team
who may have some success this year but may still want
to move up is our good friends the Bears. Currently
sitting at #19 we could gain an extra 3rd and 4th rounder
by allowing Chicago to move up. So with that in mind
    here we go.

    #19 Jared Crick, DT Nebraska
    #34 Kheeston Randall, DE/DT Texas
    #69 Montee Ball, RB Wisconsin
#82 Jarrett Boykin, WR Virginia Tech (from Chicago)
    #100 Zavier Gooden, OLB Missouri
#113 **(from Chicago) moved back to gain a 5th and 6th**

    5th Drake Dunsmore, FB Northwestern
6th Stephen Garcia, QB South Carolina
    6th **Open**

Keep in mind, this is by the seat of my pants and im not
sure how the picks will play out. This will change
    drastically in a few months.

If we draft Garcia I will puke!!! I'm sorry I think Denver will be better than what you think. Denver imo will be between 7-9 10-6. I've think I mentioned this to you before, if Moreno is the same rb he has been the last couple yrs look for us to be looking for a stud rb in the draft. You need a rb in fox's offense. Whatever Ingram does with the saints this yr I think Richardson will be twice as good. He would be my Guy.

All those things you mention are a distinct possibility. But i dont think we will be better than 5-6 wins personally and thats what i based this off of. Obviously, as the season progresses and we get to the end of the year it will be easier to determine where we will fall in the draft so it will change one way or another.

I dont see Fox drafting a 1st round RB unless its later in the round, by trading down. But i do see 6-9 wins this season. 8-8 most likely and 9-7 is we knock out patriots again.

    this draft sux.....j/k

I really don't love any of this year's tackles at this point. Crick really doesn't do much for me. I'd prefer to move back like you did and nab one of those second tier qbs like Foles and get a tackle in the second

I only see top QBs in this draft worth it. We have Webb also which will prob be on the practice squad for us. I really dont see us drafting a QB unless it is a top on. I think they will take the best defensive player on the board in first 2 rounds. Then look for a RB, and OL/DL.

Don't worry, we'll take the best quarterback available!

If its not a QB, CB, DE or WR, the first round is thin.

I guess I will never figure out why people fall in love with 280 lb DT's that ALWAYS end up as 5 tech's in the NFL. Crick will not be a true DT at the next level

So, will 2012 be at least the 7th straight draft where fans call for a DT, and Broncos HC's/GM's go in another direction?

    Probably.

Lord knows Denver needs YET another unrpoven QB on the roster.

From what I've seen, Brandon Thompson is the best option at DT. I think Quinton Coples is also a better option than Crick. Im not sure where Coples is supposed to be drafted but he's been used in a very similar way to how the Broncos are trying to use Ayers this year. Last year, because of suspensions, Coples had to move to the inside. He's a fairly stout player that also has some explosiveness.

Thompson is projected to go in the 2nd or 3rd round while Crick is projected as a top 20 prospect. Ahead of Crick is Jerel Worthy of Michigan State. Coples is listed as a DE, not a DT.

Yeah, I know. But as I said before, Coples has played a lot inside but is best off the edge. This is kind of how Ayers is being used this year. He's being moved inside on obvious passing downs. Coples had 5 sacks as a red shirt freshman and had 10 last year spending a lot of time as a defensive tackle.

I'd avoid Crick and Worthy in the first, at least at this point. There just doesnt seem to be a big enough difference between them and some of the guys I've identified in another thread. I think the hype around Crick comes from his name being out there for a while. In one sense you can say he's not a one year wonder but Im just not seeing the dominance that Id want from a first round DT.

BTW, Im not sure if the point value chart applies anymore but going from 7 to 19 is the equivalent of 625 points, which is a low first. You have us only picking up a 3rd when moving that far down?
