Default Would You Be Interested In OG Max Jean-Gilles For A 4th?

    http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/ne...story_id=20399

The Eagles extended an original pick tender to restricted free agent OG Max Jean-Gilles.
Jean-Gilles was originally a fourth-round selection, so he could generate some interest from power blocking teams. He's not been a great fit in Philly.
He is massive. I was hoping the Broncos would go after Stephen Neal, but Max Jean-Gilles is younger, more powerful, and has more upside.

I still expect Chris Kuper and Seth Olsen to open up the season as our starting Guards

We'll find out soon enough how confident the Broncos are with Kuper and Olsen. The free agency period opens in less than 3 hours.

Well this isn't an immediate thing.

If we want, we can sign him to an offer sheet. If the Eagles want, they can match that offer. If they don't we forfeit a 4th round pick for Jean-Gilles. It could take an entire week.

I'd be okay with giving up a 4th round pick for a guard with starting experience.

I'm not positive that the Broncos will go after any starting guards in FA. They showed what they thought of Kuper with the 1st round tender, and it sounds like they are high on Olsen. Depth would still be nice. Right now Matt McChesney is probably the biggest unknown with the most upside at guard. Personally, I'd like to see Denver grab a center, and then focus on the Dline.

    Props on that call Z

The first wave of guys we're hearing about are:

    Hadnot
    Pashosh
    Bannon
    Edwards

I just don't know why we aren't hearing anything about us pursuing our obvious NT solution that would also weaken our main rival and signing J. Williams
That's right b!+ches, the Denver BRONCOS are Back!!!

Our Dline coach was in San Diego with Jamaal for most of his career. Nunnely knows him as well as anyone. I'm sure he'll at least have some input.

sign him as a UFA? sure, it'd be worth a shot. . .

trade a draft pick for him? i'd rather just spend the pick on a young guard who'll be cheaper. . . this class looks to be relatively deep at OG, especially if you count some of the tackles who might play guard at the next level-- i think our odds of finding a player at least as good as jean-gilles, who certainly hasn't been anything special as a pro, would be fairly good. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

I'd take a shot on him.... dont know about a 4th though. Although he is a very aggressive guard that has a mean streak on him. Something our interior line needs.

Because Williams might be done. Let try to stay away from older players coming off injury.

They rush on to the Swedes! They crash into the Swedish riters…. Overwhelm them! They crash into the second regiment - Overwhelmed! Resistance collapses, dissolves, they move forward as easily as if they were parading on a grand boulevard

I see your point Elsid, he's older, but it's not like he blew out his knee last year. It was a tricepts injury. He's a mobile 350 pound beast. His best years may be behind him, but I think he's still better than anyone we have on the roster at that position right now. It's all about stopping the run, and that's what he does better than most. I don't think a Dan Williams, Mt. Cody, or Cam Thomas will be able to step on the field this year and play at the same level he will. I'd love to see the Broncos groom a young kid behind him for a year or two.

Grooming doesn't always work and most older players don't want to mentor their replacement. Denver mostly isn't gong to the SB next season, so lets get some young guys in and get them the experience they need to make a deep run in 2012.

Agreed. No old heads please. They'll just need replaced again next year.
