He had about an 1/8 of a tank, probably less, if he didn’t go awol during camp he would have been stranded on the off ramp by game 15.

He’s older than dirt and still churned out numbers and won a bad division.

Come back champ; he’s still solid, imo.

Stress and arrogance has aged Brady. He’s not that skinny only through diet. He knows he fvcked up being a good family man and he can’t take it back. He has scarred his kids through selfishness. Money can’t buy happiness. Brady has made a shit ton of cash.

Brady is not good anymore. His numbers were solid this year, but mostly because they passed the ball a shitton. He had the most pass attempts of his career this year. High volume, low efficiency. This year was his lowest QBR since they have been measuring that stat.

At this point, he's unable to make plays himself. He still looks good when his blocking holds up and his receivers get open, but literally any QB good enough to make the NFL looks good in those conditions. When things break down he just can't do anything.

And I'm giving him zero flowers for winning a bad division going 8-9. We saw how legitimate that playoff spot was when they got demolished by a flawed cowboys team.

Brady had a great career, but he's done now. If he comes back this year, he's gonna be 2015 Manning. I don't think he wants to go out playing like that.

He is still a top half qB with immense knowledge. He ain’t top five anymore. But he’s not totally washed. That division was ass! But there are ass divisions! There must be a winner.

Here's the thing. No wife was forcing him to retire this time around. This was his decision. I don't think he makes that decision if he thinks he still has good football left in him. He knows he's washed, and he doesn't want to go through the embarrassment of looking that bad on the field.

Or he's just 45 years old and even the best medicine and training routines money can buy eventually have an expiration date in terms of making someone able to play in the NFL. This just doesn't seem all that complicated. Dude pushed his body to the absolute max it could go to play in the NFL at a high level, and now he can't do it anymore.

I’m not talking about his body, Wave. She most likely leaked his retirement last season and then threw a wobbler when he didn’t capitulate. It threw everything into disarray. Now the man is out there retiring because she assassinated his season from the jump, plus all the other issues with the roster. Now people are saying the man’s a bad father and all this nonsense…

A man is getting assassinated here. It’s sad. I wanted him to get smoked by a NFL team and retire normally. Instead it’s a broken man leaving because of this nonsense. His psyche was killed

Maybe. This just makes a lot of assumptions that I don't see how you could be confident in. Not saying any of it is definitely wrong, I'm just going with the simplest explanation that age finally caught up to the man.

Also, his stated goal was always to play to 45, which he did. Maybe he was just always going to retire this year, regardless of anything having to do with his family/personal life.

Well, we do know the initial reports of his retirement came not from him, but someone close to him, and that it was reported he was furious about it because he didn't make the choice. That was reported and talked about on so many shows that I do think there's some truth there. I think your second paragraph kind of supports this. Moreover, if he was sabotaged, as I would call it, it would make it harder to play another season regardless.

Dude got hosed by a scorned family member.

I don't disagree that all the shit that happened last offseason was a mess with the pressure from Gisele and it being leaked and all that. I don't think he ever intended to retire last year.

My main point is that I think his play has dropped off to a level that even though he's still a decent QB, he probably doesn't want to hang on one year too long and go out like ass. He hit his goal of 45, accomplished everything he ever needed to, I think he was gonna walk away this year regardless of what went down last year.

Also, why is it such a crime that Brady's character is being assassinated but it's ok to assassinate Gisele's? We're ultimately basing this all on rumors and reports. I don't know why it's fair to give Brady every benefit of the doubt here and just assume Gisele is the bad actor who is at fault for everything here. We're all flawed. It's very likely that neither of them is totally perfect or totally the villain in all this.
