Shanahan is going to be in the HofF. He has a great legacy. Nobody's going to ever take that away from him. But in the conversation of being hired, and jobs, and who's done what in what have you done for me lately league, Shanahan just isn't relevant. Teams aren't even jumping at the chance of hiring him. He failed in his last gig at Washington, and there are other coaches with better current resumes right now that's looking for the jobs.

If you took 50 coaches who either coach in the NFL current, or have in the last few years, Shanahan is probabably down around the bottom lower half. He isn't a top coach in todays game, or even average. Dude failed hard in Washington.

Doesn't even matter. Your only argument for Shanahan is what he did like 17 years ago, and how he no longer had an NFL HofF QB, even though guys are winning the SuperBowl now without that.

When Pete Carroll wins his 2nd SuperBowl this year - he will officially have a greater legacy than Mike Shanahan. ANd he doesn't even have a Hof F QB.

Would you hire a guy like Marvin Lewis or Mike Shanahan over an up and coming coach who is an unknown commodity and waiting for an opportunity, like Gase. Or even a guy like Marrone? I'm not sure that you do.

So you can't just answer the question? This topic is about him applying for open positions and opinions on should they hire him or not or what is the best fit. It isn't what he did almost 20 years ago.

Guess it depends on my QB. If I have Elway it probably doesn't matter much. Then again, I'd probably take Shanny over Marvin, but just barely.

BTW, the real architect of San Francisco and Seattle's success was hired by the Redskins today.

    Scot McCloughan.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

I'm sure most of us feel the same. Not sure what team you were rooting for and not sure how ood you were back then. But unless you were a Bronco fan back then, than you really have no clue what we think or how we feel. I'm just loyal to the guy and support for being a great coach during those two years. YOu never lived through the 80 Super Bowls with us. When we finally got to feel what it felt like to win a world championship, we we're just grateful. I'll never bash the guy. He was a great coach!!!!!
This thread is about his current coaching prospects, which has nothing to do with what he did in the 90s. No one is even bashing the guy in here, just discussing where he stands as a coach currently.

If you don't care about anything he has done since 98 and don't care if he ever coaches again, I'm not really sure why you're posting in this thread?

The thread has actually stayed very much on-topic. I guess I'm just not sure what you're trying to accomplish here? We are all very well aware of what he did in the 90s and all the Broncos fans here are much appreciative. But in a thread about his CURRENT coaching prospects, you can see why most of us would be discussing what he has done more recently, right?

Dude, I don't care what you think I'm doing. I'll discuss anything I so choose. if you don't like it don't pay attention to it. If I want to talk the past, the future, or the present I will. I personally don't care if you like it or not. Who left you in charge of anything, anyway. If you are so concerned about threads going off topic, why don't you go through all of them and fix them?

I'm not at all trying to tell you what you can and can't post. If you want to bask in our 90s glory that's fine, I'm just trying to explain to you why the rest of us are talking about his more recent history than what he did in the 90s. I'm really baffled as to what has you so riled up in here.
