Default RB Stewart headed to Denver?

    From Scouts Inc. Insider:

    RB Stewart headed to Denver?

Following up on a note from last week, RB Jonathan Stewart continues to be a hot topic in scouting circles as he moves back up the board following turf toe surgery in March. Stewart's surgery combined with several nagging injuries during his college career sent his stock sliding, but now that he has healed and tested for teams again it is clear most are comfortable that his toe is not an issue.

Denver (No. 12) and Carolina seem to have the most interest among teams in the top 20, and we're told the chances are good that the Broncos will take Stewart if their favorite offensive tackle prospect -- Chris Williams -- is off the board. Denver has always felt it could find running backs in the later rounds and turn them into 1,000-yard rushers in its zone blocking system, but that philosophy has not worked out in recent years and the Broncos obviously think Stewart would be a nice fit in their offense.

ok i made a response but its not showing up. so lets try again.

You know all the other nfl teams are just praying that we draft williams. They would be shtting their pants knowing that our new tank would be leveling their defense and the afc west for the next 7 years.

No team wants to see this guy in a broncos uni. Its a freaking sexy scary thing! I just hope that shanny thinks this way too and will go OL in #2.

    Please shanny. Please....

    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Stewart don the Blue and Orange.

This is GM liar week. You will hear so many rumors and 99% of the time they don't even happen. This leads me to believe Denver is trying to get someone to want to trade up for Stewart........but when I try to think of reasons why it leads me to think they want Mendenhall or another player and are hopeful someone will jump up and take Stewart or Chris Williams.

Gamesmanship at it's finest... Another tack is the one the Pack's GM took on NFL Network.... "I'm not going to give any proprietary information... I don't say this to be mean to the fans, but other people will see this".

So if they're NOT lying, then they're not talking at all. These guys keep secrets a heck of a lot better than folks in the State Department.

Great vision, quick feet, above average hands, desire to be the best in the business, and size to compliment grood speed what more can you ask for in a running back?

At spread it out Oregon, Stewart has earned a lot of his yards out of pro-style formations. I think he will thrive in a more flexible system that'll get him to the second level a lot easier than that of his college system. He will look amazing in orange and blue! I will be the most excited guy on draft day if this happened.

Do I read between the lines that you guys like Stewart better than Mendenhall? If so can you elaborate as to why that is the case?

    TIA 4 the knowledge....

This is the first draft in forever with Sunquist out of the equation. I'm interested to see just how much of the smoke and mirrors before the draft was his doing, and how much was Shanahan's. We should get a good indication Saturday afternoon. Anyone else find it odd that Sunquist didn't get hired on by another team? If anything, I thought another team might bring him in as a "consultant". Most GM's would pay well to know what a team that is drafting around thier pick is thinking and which way they might be leaning.

The Broncos must really love Mendenhall and Clady if this kind of news is floating around.

    Sorry Boss.

It depends on who you ask. Mendenhall was basically a one year wonder in college. He also doesn't hold onto the ball as well as Stewart, and doesn't play as fast as his 40 speed.

Mike Mayock has Mendenhall above Mc Fadden... I only saw him play against Ohio St. and in the Rose Bowl against the Trojans, but I was very impressed. The fil that Mayock showed looked like he played up to his 40 time and he moves the pile.

He's a good between the tackles runner. He's also quick, but whether he has the speed to take it outside in the NFL and turn the corner is debatable. Yes, he can move the pile. He runs very well inside.
