Dear ChubbNYiadom,
Welcome to the board and hope you love it here. I've enjoyed your contributions and the spark that you provide. You have a knack for stirring things up with controversial opinions and getting members atwitter with opinions and comments. Great stuff.
I feel obligated to tell you that I believe you are a banned forum member who has returned, and the protocol markers associated with your previous account or accounts are unique, preventing this account from detection as a multiple account. I know this is a rude welcome, but there it is. Might as well have it in the open so you know what's up. I'm not the only one with this feeling, so might as well get it out there for everyone.
A few of the prior online personas that come to mind from reading your posts are: JWalk, JCutty6..., Yashala17, and Lynch12. The reason you remind me of these personas is because you make similar spelling and punctuation mistakes that are unlike nearly every message board's member, you present similar opinions to those previous posters (vocal support of Paxton Lynch), you have little quirks that are shared by the previous personas (e.g., idiosyncratic use of parentheticals), and so forth. In addition, it is impossible for an admin to detect multiple accounts in certain circumstances (using VPN, different IP/MAC addresses, etc., and probably many more ways I don't care to research).
I put more stock in intuition and gut feel than many, and when something just seems or feels a certain way, I tend to give it credit. I am reminded of the museum curator in Malcolm Gladwell's book 'Blink' in which he was able to identify in an instant by first overall impression that a certain sculpture was a fraud--when that same sculpture had passed through several more scientific screenings that showed it to be authentic. It was indeed a fraud, and the curator knew it upon inspection because of the feel he had developed over the years. How we communicate is particular to each of us, no one would confuse a Hemingway with an Orwell or a Vonnegut with a Roth. We can't put a finger on it sometimes, but we know.
My purpose is to clear the air of why posters are accusing you of being another persona, and now you know. They are going from their gut, and I don't think that's wrong to do. Based on their previous interaction with those personas, they extend the relationships developed then to the one they have with you now. I do realize it creates an unwelcoming environment and apologize for that. This place is a nice community. We like it and feel protective of it when someone treats it with disrespect or makes an overall negative contribution. Unfortunately, that is highly subjective--one man's clever contribution is another man's unwelcome attack--and inevitably leads to friction, but nothing to do about that but remember we should be civil.
So, I felt I should say something to that effect. Being civil and following a code of conduct cures many ills. I apologize for the unwarm welcome I have given and on behalf of the board, and meant what I said in my mhs comment. But it's hard--even foolish--to be sincere in the face of perceived deception. Isn't pseudonominous society fascinating?
