Which do you prefer?
Are you a snob and refuse to do one or the other?
Gas is easier but the flavor from charcoal is second to none but it is a pain in the butt and more expensive in the long run.
Depends on what I'm making. If I'm just throwing some brats and burgers on there for a quick meal...I'll use the gas. If I'm putting effort into what I'm making...I use the grill. Then there is the smoker for brisket, ribs, etc.
It's probably unnecessary, but propane always worries me. I always use charcoal.
Charcoal BBQ tastes better imo.

If I use charcoal I never use the brickets. Only real chunck pieces, I never use a starting fluid EVER. It has petroleum products in it and just like the brickets, that goes onto your food.
Most of the time I use propane with fake ceramic brickets over the flame, once those are white hot I turn the gas off and then cook.
Best of both worlds, if I wish to get some extra flavor I use some applewood, mesquite chips over the brickets after the flame is off there are a couple,of other favors I used all being hardwoods but mesquite is the one I use the most.
I also have one of those "infrared" screens I use it just under the actual grill, it cuts way down on fat fires.
Been looking at one of those grills commonly know as the big green egg. Because of the incredibly high heat they produce I would probably oNLY use it on a good steak, so not sure it is worth the cost.
Anyone have one and what other uses does it have.
Why not BOTH?!?! I love taking my time grilling but as time has gone on and kids get older (more extracurricular activities), it does get harder to make time to grill at a higher standard. But, settling for a faster cook, especially on beautiful weekday afternoons, is still really great. While charcoal or wood burning grilling are most preferred, gas grilling has its perks too (time & cleanup). And I'm definitely not a snob about it either, because in life, there are many obstacles, and its up to us to get around them. So, you gotta do what you gotta do.
Sorry OB, they both are bad for you. You gotta go raw...If you must grill go Foreman...or just microwave your meat
I hear that gas is generally less preferred
I use both, but charcoal is the better method at least taste wise. Gas is way more convenient.
