I'm not anti-gun by any means, but just to play devils advocate I can point you to a dozen horror stories of kids shooting each other by accident, violent crime involving guns, etc. I think the main point I'm trying to make in this thread is that even those stories don't prove guns are bad. Case by case stories are horrible arguments for such a broad issue.

If anything, this thread just proves how scary it is that false information can spread like a wildfire in no time at all. Very Orson Wells-like, this whole internet!

let any moron attempt to do that at my hacienda and they will be dead meat.

Everyone in the house would shoot expert with the 45 Cal colt in the bed stand.

We are taught shoot to kill, cause dead men don't sue.

Responsible conduct with guns around kids would include:

    1. Securely locking them from their access
    2. Taking them to the firing range or out in the country and letting them fire
them while teaching them gun safety

Guns were never a big kick for me or any of us kids, or any of the other kids
around our part of the country, because we all fired guns and got to know
them well from the time we were big enough to aim one. My dad bought me
my first .410 gauge shotgun and .22 rifle when I was 10 years old. By then,
I knew exactly what to do with them . . . and what not to do with them.

    damn nutjobs. . . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

If they make sex-ed mandatory, they should do the same with a gun safety class. They both contain instances where something can go off and change your life forever.

i guess i'm naive ,i got that story in an email from a friend and just assumed it was true.if it's false i apologize.if its true i really feel sorry for the girl,it would be hard to get something like that out of your mind....come to think of it where the hell were her parents?
i don't have any agenda and could'nt care less about anyone's personal choice to own firearms.
i have a shotgun (that was given to me by my stepfather 35 years ago only used for clay pigeons and a lone dove that caused me to give up hunting when i was 12) a rifle i keep in case i ever have to shoot a deer to feed my family (which would require the closing of every grocery store and fast food joint in a 500 mile radius) and a 9mm smith and wesson that was my fathers weapon of choice ( for his 28 years as a police officer, actually probably only the last 10 or so ) he left his gun, badge and a few other things to me when he died.
i hope i never even have to point any of these at a human being, but be certain if someone enters my house with the intent of doing harm to any member of my family......they will quickly find out what means to be on "the wrong side of a gun"

Frankly, I would replace sex-ed with gun safety - and drivers ed. I don't mind
the schools teaching the other two to my kids, but I want to be the one to
deliver their education on sex (i.e., morals).

    Not in Butte …

Fake story still circulating on Internet
Story Discussion By John Grant Emeigh of The Montana Standard - 12/13/2007 | Posted: Wednesday, December 12, 2007 11:00 pm | (0) Comments

A dramatic story about a shooting that supposedly happened in Butte last year is nothing more than an urban myth.

The bogus story has been circulating for the past year on Internet blogs and Web sites concerning a girl shooting two men who broke into her Butte home in November 2006.

According to the fabricated story, an 11-year-old Butte girl shot two “illegal aliens” with a shotgun after they broke into her home. The shooting supposedly took place on Nov. 5, 2006, according to Internet posts.

When asked about the authenticity of the events described in this story, Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff John Walsh told The Montana Standard in an earlier interview that his office never investigated such an incident.

    “This never happened,” Walsh said.

The story claims the girl shot and killed the two intruders while she was home alone. The story doesn’t provide a street address or attribute the information to any official sources.

Walsh brushed off the story of an urban myth.

“It’s amazing how these things get around,” he said.

Numerous people from all over the United States have contacted The Montana Standard in the past year via e-mail or phone to verify if the story was true. The story is often given the headline “Home Invasion Gone Wrong.” A recent search for this story on the Internet search engine Google.com returned with more than 400 hits.

The story has been printed as fact on some anti-gun control and anti-immigration Web sites. The phony story identifies the 11-year-old girl as Patricia Harrington, who shoots and kills the two “illegal aliens” identified as Ralphel Resindez and Enrico Garza.

Reporter John Grant Emeigh may be reached at john.emeigh@lee.net.

    BUTTE, MONTANA

Shotgun preteen vs. Illegal alien Home Invaders...

Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11 year old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home.

It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana and Patricia had been a clay shooting champion since she was nine.

Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun.

Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old's knee crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals.
When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive.
It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen 45 caliber handgun he took from another home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David 0Burien, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds to the chest.

Ever wonder why good stuff never makes NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news........an 11 year old girl, properly trained, defended her home, and herself......against two murderous, illegal immigrants.......and she wins,
    She is still alive.

HAVE A GREAT DAY! and keep your guns loaded and plenty of ammo handy!

This is why I never, ever forward or post emails that I get without first checking on their validity. I am constantly rebuking emails that I get from my sisters (the majority of them seem to have some sort of political or social angle).

Holy shista!?! Could you imagine, our elementary kids coming home with condoms and a gun!!!

The mayor or schoolboard would certainly get a letter from me, regarding what an utterly fantastic job they are doing with our youth!!

Really though, that is why I keep a metal baseball bat and knife by the bed. YOu try to shoot me in the dark with your gun, while I beat the freak out of your face with my bat.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell
