Yeah - i did it a few times, and i hated every minute of it!

I need to do that type of training with someone - on my own, i don't have the discipline!

    Solution: move to New Orleans.

I ran one of the semi-annual fitness tests this morning, the one this semi-annual period consists of max pull-ups, max crunches in 2 mins, and a timed 3 mile run. I got 21 pullups (100 pts), 110 crunches (100 points), and a 22:46 run time (73 points) for a total of 273 out of 300. I'm very happy with that result. That's about a 7:35/mile pace. I'll take it. I think I could've pushed a tad more, but I was close to leaving it all out there, it was a little humid and the sun was dead in my face the last 1.5 miles... Overall I'm very pleased with my effort and result.

    Nice one mate!!

We do push ups instead of pull ups - in two mins, i do about 60 (a pass is 44), same for crunches and we do 1.5 mile run - pass mark for my age is 11.30 mins, but i still do it in under 10.30 (although the last time was only just) - that is exactly 7 minute mile pace.

Summary - you are stronger in your arms and core. We are probably a similar standard at the run.

You also have a few years on me!!!

Yeah, our run times are pretty much dead on with each other, or at least very close most of the time. I think next week I might do a 1.5 miler and push the pace just to see what I can hit. I was at 10:36 at the half way point this morning.

I also would like it acknowledged that my beautiful nine minute miles are now 8.30 as standard.

My best time for the mile and a half was 8.43..... But that was a few years ago lol

Yeah, that's where I sit at for anything over about 5 miles. I can maintain an 8:30 pace for a very long time. The furthest I've gone recently was 9 miles and my overall was an 8:28. I was hurting towards the end though, if I were to push it out to a half marathon or further I might need to slow to 9 minute miles around that point.

Got the last of the bridge run series tonight, the big Mississippi river bridge downtown, the Crescent City connection. 4 miles, over 400 feet. Should be fun!
