Three reports in this one site, all three indicate a rag arm.

Lance Zierlein, “lacks arm stretch . . .”. Compares Rypien to Nick Mullens, I rest my case.

But hey, remember y’all don’t think arm strength even matters, especially the “It” groupies.

nah bro...I'm a it factor kinda guy, and I like me some arm strength.....lol

Keenum didn't have, nor does he have, a decent skillset.

Rypien did finish tops in the velocity tests.

Big arm helps, but isnt everything.

Some of the best QBs didn't have an Elway cannon. Im just saying.

But he definitely has everything you want in a quarterback fundamentally and as I said before I hope someday we go back and look at the 2019 draft and make a nice correlation between it and the 83 Draft when we drafted two quarterbacks.
A better arm than Keenum? I don't think so, they seem to be about the same. I also don't know about the more accomplished part either. Keenum set all kinds of school records at UH. In almost every aspect they seem to be very similar quarterbacks. If Rypien turns into a solid back up quarterback that would be a boon.

Keenum set NCAA records while at UH, but excelling in college doesn't always translate to success in the NFL...as we've alllllllll witnessed.

Keenums arm was touted as very strong coming out pre draft. His size, the off system, and that UH never faced a ranked opponent were his biggest knocks.

I'm much the same way having a quarterback who make all throws never hurts. However, they still have to have smarts and a hunger to win.

Agreed, and I wasn't trying to make the case (pardon the pun) that it does. I just saying right now I think many respects Keenum and Rypien are similar but that does not mean we'll get similar results. As I have said I hope Rypien can develop into at the very least a solid back up quarterback and possibly a chip that Denver can eventually use in trade. More importantly lets hope Lock is able to take the mantle of franchise quarterback and leads the Broncos to Super Bowl success.

Montana never had great arm strength.

But Jeff George had a cannon. So did Joey Harrington.

George had the smarts to play the position, he just self-centered.

Joey Harrington had a great arm too.

Exactly. Arm strength isnt the only gauge.

You know who else had a big arm? Akili Smith.
