Good piece from Barnwell here on the difficulty of evaluating QBs.

“Bland professional schemes”, schemes so bland it takes years for these “better prepared” neophytes to assimilate.

Chip Kelly wasn’t obstinate, turned out well.

Edit, actually he was obstinate, just with his college schemes. Ways out!

Problem is you’re literally teaching players with athletic traits to be QB’s from scratch, it’s that simple, they have further to go then ever before.

And Then they’ll still expect them to start from Day 1, then they’ll change the system on them ... twice. Then they’ll sign some JAG and ignore the two QB’s available that actually are “better prepared” because JAG “fits the system”.

Btw, if you go back and watch Rodgers at Cal he was waaaaaaay different than he was when he took over for Favre. He’s one of the few QB’s to change his throwing motion successfully.

Now that Romo retired Rodgers has the most relaxed and smoothest release in the league, it is poetry, but he was completely different in college.

Jaded dropping the gospel at the Church of Broncodom.

Now go out there and abuse your powers.

Also, when you talk about changing the throwing motions, does that disqualify minor tweaks on the mechanics?

You and I don’t even see minor tweaks, I would assume that’s fairly common.

I think what he did was he just relaxed once he got away from Tedford, he just slings it. Its kinda like he went in reverse, instead of going from messy to some modicum of textbook (like Tebow) he went from overly mechanically textbook to just smooth as melted butter.

The footwork he learned from Tedford was invaluable.

The most Cleveland move would be Mayfield, imo...I hope they do it.

Did you see your boy Orlovsky tear Allen apart?
