    Default Justin Simmons CO quitline

Just saw a CO quitline commercial with Justin Simmons. This isn't good! At all! The last 5 or 6 Broncos who've partnered and done commercials have left the season after they did the commercials. It's like the Madden curse. NOOOOOOO!!!

There have been more, but can't think of them right now.

I don't think the return on Simmons would be worth that headache.

Maybe Denver doesn't want to pay 26-28 mil to the safety position next year? I have said from early on safety could be a huge need for us. Kjax has a option we have to pick up and its not cheap and Simmons will command around 14-15 mil per year after another good year. I still think Simmons ends up in Denver. He is the kind of player coaches and GM's love. The price will be the key. They may just let him test FA and negotiate based off the offers out there.
    Denver's 2024 George Paton Draft/FA plan

    Draft
    RD1- TE Brock Bowers, GA
    RD3- QB Spencer Rattler, SC
    RD4- CB Josh Newton, TCU
    RD5- S Reggie Pearson, OK
RD5- C Michael Jurgens, Wake Forest
RD6- K Jonah Dalmas, Boise St

I don’t think Simmons will last long if he hits the open market. Some team like Jax that has a shitload of cap space will let him write his own check during the legalized tampering period and he’ll be in Jax the second FA hits signing a contract as the top paid safety. We can’t compete. The only chance we have to keep Simmons now is to get a deal done before FA starts or to tag him again to buy time to work on a deal. If we tag him again, negotiations probably won’t go well and he’ll likely not sign his tag and try to force a trade. I can see it getting really ugly if we tag him again.

Maybe, but he doesn't strike me as that kind of player, especially with his community links. Money can always change things though.

He’s better than Jamal Adams, who the Jets traded for a 1st round pick.

Denver wouldn't get a first round pick for Simmons.

    Then you can’t trade him.

I wouldn’t dismiss the possibility, he’s better , he’s creates far more turnovers. Plus, there isn’t an impact FS in this draft.

    What am I missing?

Denver would have to be able to sign him first to be able to trade him. I'm not sure Simmons would agree to play under the franchise tag again.

Simmons would have to sign his tender to be traded, but he would only do that after he worked out a new contract with new team. This is actually the only logical reason for him to sign his tender.

Mahomes was on the front cover of Madden and he won the Super Bowl. He broke the Madden curse.

I def don’t think he’s better than Jamal Adam’s. Adam’s is a game changer. Simmons not so much.
