I would have drafted Najee if he were there in the second but, remember, we added that RB/ST guy from Minny to play behind Gordon. I could maybe go Michael Carter in the third or fourth. I think you'll see more 2-TE, 1-RB stuff this coming year but RB depth is still a concern.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.
Sure and sometimes teams get it right but you still dont "logically" take the 4th and 5th best option if you dont feel its an immediate upgrade to what you already have. Its actually fact that Fields needs some work which is probably why he dropped to begin with. So even if we took Fields it would take 3 years at best to get him where he needs to be which is baffling why people are ok with giving him (or Josh Allen) that kind of time but not Lock.
I have my criticisms of Lock and still dont know if he will be the long term answer but until we have a definitive upgrade i want to avoid taking guys who are going to need the same amount of time and work to see what they have. Right now, Lock is on the clock this year and we have a decent guy in Teddy who can push him if need be so unless we land Rodgers than Denver needs to do what it can to keep improving the rest of the team.
Taking a rookie QB isnt the answer this year unless it was a high enough prospect which was not Fields or Jones. Doesnt mean they will fail (hell Jones is probably in the best system to help him than anyone) but there are reasons why they dropped compared to the other guys taken.
I still think people are nitpicking the hell out of Fields and he's gonna make a lot of people look stupid when he actually sees the field. I suppose we'll see!
Possibly...but I think if any position needs to be nit-picked to hell, it should be QB. I can't say with any conviction that he'll be good or that he'll flame out. I just didn't think it was the right path for Denver to take last night. I wouldn't have been pissed, but I wouldn't have been over the moon either.
