    Default Back Up QB

Are you all happy with the QB depth that we have?

I am. Because he won't see the Field in 2020.

I think we have a great roster and if Lock goes down I wouldn't want that to end our season. But, likely he won't see the field. I agree.

The only action JD will have is mop up duty when Lock has Den up by 50.

This is pretty short-sighted. KC showed last year how important it is to have a competent backup who can come in and win a few games as needed. Heck we saw that first hand in 2015 with Brock. I don't know much about how good our guy is, but it definitely matters.

I think it’s fine. Also, let’s not give Elway and Fangio any chance for camp “competition” or any other such nonsense that we’ve seen in the past.

If Lock can't play a full season... Not good.

On one hand I agree, on the other hand I kinda want to see the meltdown if we sign Cam or Kap.

From a pure football standpoint it would make sense. But, I'm not going to get into that for obvious reasons.

There is something like a 50% chance that a team's backup QB will have to start at least one game in any given year. Obviously you'd like for that not to happen, but it's just negligent not to prepare for it. KC and NO both benefited last year from having competent backups. And not having one sunk the Steelers. It matters.

Oh Pittsburgh, way to trade a first round pick in an attempt to make the playoffs while not having a real backup QB.

And before anyone starts, if you watched Rudolph in college you'd know he's not really all that gifted, at all.

That’s an entirely different story than veteran depth.

Backup QB's are backups. At this point Cam is veteran depth until he can show otherwise. Same thing for CK.

I wish we had a decent backup QB, especially if we doomed like so many say because of our tackles.

I don’t think Cam Newton is veteran depth. He had an injury last year and he’s coming back. I think the only reason he hasn’t been signed is because no one could do a physical, and now most teams have their starter.

Who’s the team that needs a starter right now? Maybe San Diego? Maybe New England? But they have the young guy in place in both places.

The timing was just really bad for Newton.
