It just sucks that it took this long for Von to take a bigger leadership role.

Vance is still on the hot seat of course and the strongest odds are that he'll be fired at the end of the season, but certainly not at the bye-week as he was headed for.
Lose this game and next week in KC and the team would have been 2-6 at the bye.
Bye-bye Vance at the Bye in that case.
Now, he survives - until the second half of the season - even if the team tanks in KC (they seldom win there even in the SB years).
But, they'll still be 3-5 the first half of the season, and Vance would still need to get the team into the playoffs to keep his job.
That means they need 10 wins. Start the season 3-5 and he'd need to win 7 out of the last 8 games!
Not likely, but barely possible. At least they won't be playing the Chefs or Rams again the rest of the way.
They play the Texans, Raiders (2) Chargers (2) Bengals, Steelers, Browns, and 49ers. None of those games are hopeless long-shots like playing in Arrowhead or Gillette Stadium or the Steelers on the road.
Last night's ass kickin has extended VJ longer as the Broncos HC.
I'll never say no to winning. We haven't seen a lot of it over the last 2 years, so any rain in a drought.
At the same time, as good as it feels, my outlook on the season hasn't changed much. If we win next Sunday though... that outlook starts to change big time.
