Default DirecTV to offer NFL Sunday Ticket streaming options

NFL fans who have wanted DirecTV's NFL Sunday Ticket but have been stymied by satellite restrictions are about to get a reprieve.

DirecTV announced on its website the introduction of NFLSundayTicket.tv, which allows subscribers to stream live, out-of-market games without requiring a dish. Fans can stream the contests on laptops, tablets, smartphones or using a gaming console.

Packages range from $199.99 for laptop, computer and phone services (with a student discount available) to $329.99 for the full package on all compatible devices and gaming consoles, including DirecTV's Red Zone Channel and new Fantasy Zone channel.

    Of course, there are restrictions.

The service is only available to those who: 1) live in apartment buildings where DirecTV service is unavailable; 2) live in metro New York, Philadelphia or San Francisco; or 3) attend college at Michigan (Ann Arbor), Alabama, Washington, Texas (Austin), USC, Florida, Colorado (Boulder), Syracuse, Ohio State or Harvard.

While some residing outside those restricted areas will still bemoan having to pay for DirecTV in order to utilize Sunday Ticket, it's a game changer for those in urban areas unable to partake due to regulations.

Let's say you are a Packers fan living in an apartment in New York and have spent your years at bars either dealing with Giants/Jets fans every fall Sunday or paying for overpriced food/beverages at the local "Packers bar" to watch your team play.

At a rate of just about $20 a week -- less than you'd probably spend at a bar -- you could watch from your recliner on your laptop. Or split the cost with a friend and stream it every week at a buddy's apartment who owns an Xbox One.

The move for DirecTV admits two things: A) Americans are utilizing their mobile devices to stream more and more. And B) the demand for NFL games is overwhelming.

The first Sunday the service is available is September 7.

Finally! I think that's great! However, is it worth to do it?

Hardly seems fair. I come quasi-close to three of those conditions but don't truly fit into any of them, nor do I really want to spend all the money, plus there are probably blackout restrictions they haven't told you about yet so your local team is not available.

Personally, I like sports bars - particularly with cute waitresses and managers that will put your game on the big screen for you. The cost of gasoline and food? Not bad when compared to giving hundreds of dollars to Roger Goodell.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

Personally, it is somewhat hard for me to make decisions. Should I go for it or not? I live in California and I was fed up with local broadcast stations. They refused to show some Broncos games when 49ers and Raiders have Bye Weeks or early games. I had to go the sports bar and it was tough to get a table. They are always packed. However, Broncos will have five night games and I usually stay home and watch all Broncos' night games. Therefore, I would be at the sports bar for 11 games and I will be home for 5 night games. It is up in the air.

That was a one year offer - they're not doing it this year (which is too bad). Also seemingly not happening this year - free Game Pass in the Netherlands and Argentina (they got wise to that last year).

Not that I condone this kind of behavior, BUT ... if you wanted to enjoy these services for $130 instead of $320 or whatever Sunday Ticket program they're offering this year, one might get a VPN service, surf on over to Romania and pick up Game Pass (season only, not season plus - I assume most of us are in America, and therefore don't need streaming playoff games). You get Red Zone included with this and there are no blackouts like with Sunday Ticket. It's not free, but it's a manageable cost (especially if you have to pay for Red Zone separately anyway, like I do).

Ever since Manning has come here we seem to get more prime time games. Plus living in Cali ill get to see both raider games, the sf game and possibly the sd game.

So...based on that I think ill just do without the ticket again. Should be able to catch at least 9-10 games on tv and the rest ill go to a bar or use my cousins nfl ticket streaming id.

Ah! DirecTV decided to change the policy they are going to take it away because my home address is not eligible for this season. DirecTV serves in our neighborhood. If our area doesn't have DirecTV service... they will provide an standalone program. Now, they serve DirecTV in our area and gonna take it away.

I had NFL Sunday Ticket.TV for 4 seasons. It is an standalone program and It ran through by Apple TV. It was perfect and love it. It seems I am forced to order DirecTV with dvr. I can't because I have Comcast Xfinity and I can't have both. So, I am stuck with 49ers and Raiders games in our area. Damn! It looks like I am returning to the sportsbar for Broncos games. I am thinking about getting the Dragon Box for NFL Sunday Ticket. Does anyone know about Dragon Box? (Illegal Box or not)

    Do this, exactly this:

    1. Get an amazon firestick- costs like $60 (total)
    2. Go to gearstvhd.com - costs $15 (total)
    3. Upgrade your internet to the fastest internet you can get - costs $85 (total) - for me I am 200mbps for $85
    4. Cancel your direct tv and or any other TV/movie provider including netflik
    5. youtube terrarium tv firestick and follow the install instructions
    6. youtube gears tv firestick and follow the install instructions
    7. Watch every movie, tv channel (all sports -sunday ticket, nhl center ice, etc etc etc, porn) every tv show whenver you want.

Downside- no dvr. But who cares you get all of the channels, shows and movies for $100 a month. And saved probably another $100 a month from netflix and direct tv.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell
