They're spending money like they had it - Barnwell suggested that James could still be cut to save money, so I wouldn't entirely rule it out yet.

They called on him, the team said they weren't interested in trading him, that's pretty much not happening.

Plus, James said he didn't want to restructure or negotiate a long term deal, so he'll be making almost 10 mil for this, his last season under contract.

Don't worry. Development will be one of the major traits Elway looks for when he hires a new head coach for the 2019 season.

Broncos GM John Elway, HC Vance Joseph going to Oklahoma's Pro Day on Wednesday (Baker?),UCLA's Pro Day on Thursday (Josh Rosen?) Case Keenum press conference may have to wait. Bronco bosses rolling up their No. 5 draft pick. #9sports

Besides QB Baker Mayfield, Bronco bosses Elway/Joseph looking at Orlando Brown as possible RT in draft. Brown at 6-8, 345 may be more RT than ND's Mike McGlinchey, 6-8, 309. Although Browns' 35-inch arms are LT worthy. Broncos currently have No. 5, 40 overall picks. #9sports

Realistically we could snag Mayfield at 5 and trade back into the back half of the first round to snag Brown. I'd be alright with that.

I call this "The Stoops plan" as it ultimately culminates with us hiring Bob Stoops as HC next year.

I'm pretty sure you are mostly joking with this, but as much as I dislike OU, I could get down with it. The problem with that theory is that Stoops was pretty adamant about never coaching again in pros or college. Sure he could be lying, but...probably not going to see him in the NFL anytime soon.
