But Herbert's efficiency with that high volume mitigates the silly critique that he's 'high volume'.
He's not the NFL equivalent of a SG who only scores 20 points per game because he shots 18 times a night.
Also, your argument against him sucks. If his coach doesn't botch timeouts he makes the playoffs after having played incredible in the fourth quarter and OT. Instead he is out of the playoffs due to something removed from his control. It's arbitrary and capricious.
He made it to the big game and showed us who he is. He had his chance. He proved he's not the guy. He may be an adequate starter for a team with a dream of finishing around .500 someday, but he will never be a SB winning QB. He is who we thought he was, and that's why he's at the bottom. McVay is an automatic Hall of Famer for making it to a SB with him.
And I never made an argument that he was elite. I said capable. You scoffed. Now you want to argue against him being the guy to win a team a title. Each of these divisions have 4 QBs. Top to bottom, I see him and Cousins, at least for now, similar to Carr and JH. We could nitpick the differences but Carr hasn't been setting the world on fire and Herbert doesn't always step up.
So when did Herbert not step up? It wasn't against the Raiders.
If you point to when he was a rookie, he was a rookie.
If you point to a handful of games in his second year, more often than not he was really good.
Your criticisms of Herbert lack a foundation of evidence.
