Does "Album" mean vinyl? Do CDs count?

To be a great album, in my mind, it has to have good-to-great songs throughout, not just a few solid cuts but something you enjoy listening to repeatedly from beginning to end. Among my candidates:

    "Salute" - Gordon Lightfoot
"Strong Persuader" - Robert Cray Band
"Too Low For Zero" - Elton John
    "Rubber Soul" - The Beatles

As for "greatest hits" and CD compilations, my top one is "A Decade Of Steely Dan".
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

An album can be played via record, mp3, or CD. So yes.

    MIA - Kala
    The Beatles - Revolver
    Weezer - Weezer
    Radiohead - In Rainbows
Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
The Strokes - Is This It?
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground
    Rush - 2112
    Sigur Rós – Ágćtis byrjun

I think I can only come up with 9 definitive favorites without repeating artists. #10 could be either of the following, it's essentially a toss up:

    Weezer - Pinkerton
The Beatles - Let It Be; Abbey Road
    M.I.A. - Arular
Radiohead - The King of Limbs; Amnesiac
The Velvet Underground - VU&Nico; Loaded
    Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam
    Beastie Boys - Pauls Boutique
Sonic Youth - EVOL; Murray Street
    Prince - Dirty Mind

    Enjoying the lists.

I love music too much to have to choose just one favorite album... I couldn't possibly do it.

I know I haven't sold anyone on Jazz yet but my favorite album is Miles Davis Kind of Blue. It was rated the twelfth best album of all time according to Rolling Stones top 500 albums of all time.

    http://dj-funktual.hubpages.com/hub/...ms-of-All-Time

John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley made up part of Miles' group This group was labeled the first great quintet.

Also from Miles Davis in the top 500 was Miles Davis Bitches Brew, the album that really started Fusion Jazz and Miles Davis Sketches of Spain an Jazz collaboration based off of Spanish classical music.

    I play them often.

Probably Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power or Maybe Megadeth's Countdown to Extinction. Those two were perfection.

Lotta love for Radiohead on here. I still think their best album was OK Computer or The Bends, can't decide. In Rainbows was interesting, but the most recent one I need to listen to more to "get" I suppose.

I don't think I could pick a favorite. Here are some of my favorites.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys
Are You Experienced? - Jimi Hendrix Experience
    Nevermind - Nirvana
    Ten - Pearl Jam
OK Computer and The Bends (or probably most of Radiohead) - Radiohead
    Paul's Boutique - Beastie Boys
Midnight Maurauders and The Low End Theory - A Tribe Called Quest
    Joshua Tree - U2
    Master of Puppets - Metallica
    Back in Black - AC/DC
At Folsom Prison - Johnny Cash

I could go on and on....

Off the top of my head.

    Moondance - Van Morisson
    The Wall - Pink Floyd
    Legend - Bob Marley
    Appetite for Destruction - GNR
At Folsum Prison - Johnny Cash

Legend was not an album of bobs. It is a compilation of his greatest hits. While I agree, that CD is SUPREME to many and I could listen to it over and over again. It is a greatest hits cd and not an individual album..just fyi.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

Everyone is doing multiple albums. You know my #1, here are a few more. My criteria is that I can put the album on, listen to it from start to finish and not skip one track.

The Roots - Do You Want More
Madlib - Shades of Blue (Canmore, you might want to check this one out, or some of the stuff by Yesterday's New Quintet.)
    The Pharcyde - Bizarreride 2
De La Soul - Stakes Is High
    DJ Shadow - Endtroducing
    Quasimoto - The Unseen
