    Default Yellowstone

So we decided we are going to Yellowstone this summer, we have booked our rooms and are going to spend 4 days there. I haven't been there since I was about 14 so tell me what we should check out in each area. We are staying in the geyser basin the first night, the Canyon area the next two nights and then back at the West entrance the last night. I figured that would give us 4 days to do the loop and we will have a chance to check out most everything we want to see. One thing the wife wants to do for sure is horseback riding and I will probably get the river rafting addon, anyone had any experience with any of the companies there?

Watch your picnic basket carefully so the bears don't steal it. No wait, that's Jellystone.

I haven't been since I was 14-15. Sounds like it should be a great trip! I want to go back sometime with the family.

    aite homey

Big picture, read this as just a dude thinking out loud. See the big stuff, obviously. Old faithful, all the main attractions.

You will be driving a lot through the park. As a vacation, plan your dead spaces as much as the high points.

Make sure you visit all of the insane geothermal locations--where they have bacteria colonies in 5million degree springs.

The park rangers, those with a passion, can be a high point--but it depends on a proper pairing with you / your brood or clan.

If it could go there tomorrow, I'd look at a website that rates trails, and find one or two that are longer and go deeper into the wilderness, and do those.

Depending on your background in wilderness and outdoors, it's going to be colder than many might expect.

I didn't, but I'd go out on Lake Yellowstone somehow.

    When are you going?

Going the end of July, should be fairly hot. The lake is the one thing I wasn't going to spend much time on, we spend our summers camping all the time and the lake probably won't peak anyones interest, but I could be wrong.
