    Default My offseason

    Re-sign

Brandon Marshall - I think he might have finally turned the corner on his personal life. I dont know if he wants to be in Denver next year but i am trying to re-sign. I think he should be paid like a top reciever. With 7 more receptions he has 3 years of 100 plus catches. He has 10 tds this year. What is great is that defenses are forced to double him and he can still get it done.

Elvis Dumervil - If Pat Bowlen is serious about winning he needs to re-sign his franchise two best stars. If he doesnt we know he isnt very serious about it. He is going to be paid and paid well. He has done nothing but prove he is a elite talent.

Chris Kuper - Has struggled this year. It will defiently help in getting him back with the team. I think if we can get the interior sorted out we will again be trreated to strong play from him.

Tony Scheffler - I am tagging him and seeing if i can get any takers out there.

Russ Hochstein - i think barring any thing strange he will be able to be re-signed with little difficutly. Quality depth but is not starter material.

Josh Barrett - I think we should be able to re-sign him. Good special teamer. Doesnt look like the coaching staff aggrees with my opinion of him however with Bruton and Mcbath starting in place of Hill and Dawkins injuries.

Matt Prater - Not a great kicker but we need him next year.

Ryan Mcbean - Wasnt he given a extension this past year? If not i think he could be a FA.

Kyle Orton - Tag him. I want to see what he has got one more year before i give him the keys to the city. I think if we can shore up our run game we should see a good year from Kyle. he is a guy i feel needs to have a strong run game.

    FA pickup/signings

Justin Bannan - Our run defense up the middle is average in the nfl i think prior to the Oakland game we ranked 15 up the gut. He is a very underrated player and i dont see him getting a huge payday. He would definelty shore up our issues in the middle between him and fields. I think Baker needs to be moved to LDE and play a year of rotational duty.
I think M Thomas and C Powell might not make the squad next year.

Logan Mankins - is going to get paid no matter where he goes. i think he is the top G in the FA period there are a few other Good/Elite That i feel would be good pick ups in Jahari Evans and Litui of Arizona. We need starting material here I think it would be another down year if we tried to plug in two rookies. I am not sold on Olson. He defiently isnt ready this year having spent most if not all of the year on the inactive squad.

    Draft
I would love to trade down because most of our issues can be addressed in the draft between the 2-4 rounds RDE C LG. But i am gonna go ahead and shoot this draft straight until we can see what other teams needs are and who will be coming out alot of varialbes.

    1. Joe Haden - Not my favorite pick. But i feel he fits a big need.
Considerations went out to Ronaldo McClain. I really like him but i feel CB was a bigger need. i think McClains best spot is WILB and SOLB i think it would be a waste playing him at SILB where his elite play making skills would be diminished. I also Considered CJ Spiller he has just about everything i look for at in a runner. But he cannot run effectively up the middle and i think like moreno we would be sorely dissapointed. I would love to have Suh McCoy and Berry but i just dont see them falling. Dez Bryant I like his abilty to stretch the field and is a good YAC reciever. But until we can get some other positions filled i think it would be a waste.

    2. Arthur Jones - A first round quality with injury issues. that will probably make him fall. I think he is a good fit for the defense
Players i would also look at Mike Johnson, Sergio Kindle, Matt Tennat, Joe Asamoah,

    3. George Selvie. His stock has dropped off a ton. But i think he is salvageable and has shown that he can get after the QB.
    4. J.D. Walton - played well this year not a surefire starter out of the blocks
    6. Jacoby Ford - not great size but he is a playmaker and a good return man.
    7.

i like everyon but slevie...due has had 2 staright piss porr years i would be suprised to see him drafted in rd 3...he has michael johnson work ethic without the insane athleticism

the rest looks good draft wise....as for FA...there is no CBA so right now we dont have any nor will there be a good amout to get either...so we may be stuck with just the draft and some minor FA's

You need to add on the Punter from my sig.

    ZOLTAN!

he is 6'5 230- same size as brandon marshall and he can kick the piss out of the ball. Plus his name is ZOLTAN!

    You cant miss here.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

Funny you should bring him up because I drafted him in my madden 10 game and had him punting for 17 seasons - he was a beast for my broncos video game franchise so he must work out in real life.

My offseason would consist of signing Orton to a mediocre contract, perhaps a three year deal, or extend him now, giving him about 20 mil guaranteed.

Dumerville and Brandon depend on what theyre asking for. While Dumerville is a pass threat, he is not a three down player to date. He struggles against the run and can be driven off the ball.

Brandon is worth the money as long as he doesnt ask for something stupid.

If he asks for too much, franchise him.

We will resign Kuper, and Scheff will depend on what he gets offered from other teams.

    The CBA will determine alot.

Should we enter an uncapped year, then tags will be given to two of the top three above. Brandon, Orton and Doom.

I will look to sign away a very good runblocking center or guard or both in the FA period.

    OR, a very good dlineman.

    F
Seymour is on my wishlist, one because hes leaving Oakland, and two because hes a beast.

First order of business if he comes here, go apologize to Clady for pullin his hair like a sissy. Tell him he was playing in Oakland and cant be held responsible for his actions, he was temporarily insane.

In the draft, I go with the best player available. Eric Berry is a must pick if he comes to us, and so are Suh and Bradford. McCoy is a great pick too.
    IN PATON I TRUST.

#1-Franchise Brandon...just to see how he handles it.

Re-sign Orton to a short deal. We need him for 1 more year until Brandstater is ready.

    Re-sign Kuper.

    Give Elvis whatever he wants.

Free Agents I would at least look at:
Darren Sproles, RB, San Diego-A dynamic playmaker. SD losing him helps as much as us gaining him.
Kevin Walter, WR, Houston-Very solid player. Won't be expensive and is a large receiver to compliment BMarsh.
Vincent Jackson, WR, San Diego-Clearly depend on what we do w/ BMarsh, but if he goes, we need a replacement stud WR right now.
Jahri Evans, OG, New Orleans-Very good run blocker. Nuf said.
Johnny Jolly, DE, Green Bay-Can play some nose, but is a very nice 3-4 DE. An upgrade over our current players.
Richard Seymour, DE, Oakland-Noone will dispute his abilities...even at age 30. He's making Oakland pretty solid. Re-unite him w/ McD.
Ryan Pickett, NT, Green Bay-He and Casey hampton are the 2 best 3-4 NTs in FA, but Hampton has been getting injured lately.

The secondary is deep and we should draft LBs.

    My mock:
    Rolando McClain, ILB, Alabama
    Mike Iupati, G, Idaho
    Eric Norwood, ILB/OLB, South Carolina
    CJ Wilson, DE, East Carolina
    Walter McFadden, CB, Auburn
    Alfonso Smith, RB, Kentucky

Brandon has earned the right to be paid top five in the leauge. He is 7 catches short of having 3 consecutive 100 catch seasons. I think Brandon has turned the page and has finally gotten what has troubled him in the NFL. Brandon is going to be a pain in the ass to re-sign that much i do know.

There are absoloute scrubs at C in FA this year. Dont look to add a upgrade here. Logan Mankins might be the only UFA that would be the look into

Lutati from arizona or however you spell his name, and Jahari Evans will be RFA. meaning denver would have to give up picks to aquire them...I imagine they will both probably get first round tenders if they arent resigned by their team after the season.

Seymour will not be leaving oakland anytime soon. The only way he leaves oakland is VIA trade. Davis spent a first round pick on him and he would absoloutely foolish to not tag him. And i wouldnt bet that davis would trade him to a interdivsion rival.

Suh and Berry are locks to go top five. And it might not even be a stretch to say that Bradford could go #1 Overall. McCoy i am cool with but not in the top ten. I would be pretty ticked off if that happened.

I am ok with Ryan Picket but it is my opinion Bannan is a better NT. And probably would come cheaper.
Seymour would be awesome but there is no chance he leaves oakland with out being traded. Pipedream.
John Jolly I have him as a LDE and I think that Ryan Mcbean is a strength. I think it would be a foolish decision.
Jahari Evans is a RFA. Nuff said.

Vincent Jackson is also a RFA

Walter has probably the biggest chance of coming. Not familiar with him a whole lot.

Darren Sproles. It definetly a intresting scenario there. LT is on his last lags. They have really noone other than sproles. But i dont see him as a 1 back.Definetly not the back Turner was.

    don't mess with the zoltan!
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
