    Default Northman's 2010 Draft Hitlist

These are the players i would like to see us consider in next year's draft.
Obviously this is just a early view of what may be out there so my list could
    change between now and then.

    Qb's:

    Jimmy Clausen*, Notre Dame
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 217.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.80.
Projected Round (2010): Top 5 Pick.

    Jevan Snead*, Ole Miss
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 215.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.72.
    Projected Round (2010): 2.

    Zac Robinson, Oklahoma State
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 210.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.62.
    Projected Round (2010): 4-5.

Moreno will probably be solid for us but i think we will also need another one
for the 1-2 punch. Most likely though i would see a back taken much later than
sooner but these are some guys who could contribute to ST's as well.

    Rb's:

    Jahvid Best*, California
    Height: 5-10. Weight: 194.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.37.
Projected Round (2010): Top 20 Pick.

    C.J. Spiller, Clemson
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 195.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.34.
Projected Round (2010): Top 25 Pick.

    Charles Scott, LSU
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 233.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.61.
    Projected Round (2010): 3-4.

    Noel Devine*, West Virginia
    Height: 5-8. Weight: 175.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.31.
    Projected Round (2010): 3-4.

    Joe McKnight*, USC
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 200.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.39.
    Projected Round (2010): 3-4.

    Brandon James, Florida
    Height: 5-7. Weight: 186.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.33.
    Projected Round (2010): 6-7.

As for the moment, i just dont see any DE's im really excited about. However, DT
does show some solid beef there i wouldnt mind taking.

    DT's:

    Gerald McCoy*, Oklahoma
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 295.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.01.
Projected Round (2010): Top 10 Pick.

    Terrence Cody, Alabama
    Height: 6-5. Weight: 365.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.50.
Projected Round (2010): Top 25 Pick.

    DeMarcus Granger, Oklahoma
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 303.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.98.
    Projected Round (2010): 2-3.

Yea, i still think we need some LB help. We need some fiery emotional leaders
and right now we just dont have any.

    LB's:

    Brandon Spikes, Florida
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 244.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.65.
Projected Round (2009): Top 25 Pick.

    George Selvie, South Florida
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 247.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.68.
    Projected Round (2010): 3-4.

    Daryl Washington, TCU
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 228.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.59.
    Projected Round (2010): 3-4.

Obviously, Dawkins isnt getting any younger and i know we got a couple of young
bucks waiting in the wings but if the opportunity is there to grab an Elite safety here's
    where i would go.

    S:

Eric Berry*, S, Tennessee - Scouting Report
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 195.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.36.
Projected Round (2010): Top 8 Pick.

    Taylor Mays, FS/SS, USC
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 225.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.42.
Projected Round (2010): Top 10 Pick.

    And lastly, a punter.

    P:

    Matt Dodge, East Carolina
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 220.
    Projected Round (2010): 5-6.

    Jeremy Boone, Penn State
    Height: 5-9. Weight: 185.
    Projected Round (2010): 6.

I would like to see a scat back type. With the shotgun now a staple, Moreno should improve his ball carrying skills and be able to pound the rock, so a spped ster with good hands at HB I think would bring another dimention to the offense. Screens, draws etc.. ie Devin.

    I really like Clausen.

Id love to go into next year with him at number two learning behind Orton.

If the Broncos are going to address QB in another way, then Eric Berry is the guy I want.

He is to me like an Ed Reed that will actually take yer head off.

Why Berry? Cause he is a playmaker.

Besides that, elite college safeties have a high success rate of translating to the NFL.

As for the high ranked Dlinemen like Suh, McCoy, etc.....dlinemen have a high rate of flunking at the next level.

Name the DLinemen that were drafted high that made a big impact vs those that didnt and its no contest.

Its just not a smart business decision. Take Tyson Jackson for instance. What has he done? Even if he ends up being a dominant player, you end up paying top dollar in order for the man to learn on the job.

I hate to be a proponent for the Patriot way, but trading down and stockpiling high second rounders and lowend first rounders is the absolute smart thing to do.

Your risk is low. You get a helluva lot more bang for your buck. And you have heavy ammo for future drafts.

Having three second rounders allows you to say, hell, trade the first rounder unless theres someone we REALLY want. Gain a first the following year and another second. It also allows you the ammo to move up and get a player you may really desire on your roster.
    IN PATON I TRUST.

    My early first 3 rounds...

    1. Allen Bailey, DE, Miami - perfect 5 tech DE
    2. Brandon Ghee, CB, Wake - need someone to groom along with Smith
    3. Eric Olsen, C, Notre Dame - versatile center to replace Casey

    North,
Any reason you left McClain off of the list? He's a notch above Spikes IMO, with more size, upside, and football IQ. He's a natural leader, and takes great angles to the ball. With him and DJ on the inside, you'd have 2 mlb'ers that could stay on the field for 3 downs, which is a rarity in a 3-4 D. This is also a kid that can take over the QB role on D when Dawkins leaves.

    i'd add:

    sam bradford
    mike iupati
    kris o'dowd
    arthur jones
    dan williams
    cameron heyward
    golden tate
    rolando mcclain
    jon asomoah
    matthew tennant
    mike johnson

just off the top of my head. . . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Nah, no real reason. I just dont know much about McClain. As time goes on and we get closer to the bowls and draft ill be better able to evaluate some of the players im not quite familiar with.

just off the top of my head. . . .

After the way this season has gone, I can see guards and centers becoming a priority for the Broncos. Asamoah and Johnson are players that might be available in the second that could give the Broncos a big boost on the O-line. Unfortunately, Iupati will be taken between the Broncos first and second round picks.

Bailey stated that he staying at Miami. I would add Price (UCLA) to your list. He will shot up the draft board come the Senior Bowl.
"We saw it…. the hussars let loose their horses. God, what power! They ran through the smoke and the sound was like that of a thousand blacksmiths beating with a thousand hammers

They rush on to the Swedes! They crash into the Swedish riters…. Overwhelm them! They crash into the second regiment - Overwhelmed! Resistance collapses, dissolves, they move forward as easily as if they were parading on a grand boulevard

I could see DEN trading down and taking Price in the 20s somewhere. Or a QB.

If Bailey stays (hadnt seen that), then I actually look at Dan Williams or Tyson Alualu in the 2nd before I look at Price in the first. Just better value IMO

    from NFL Draft Scout

12/20/09 - Junior defensive end Allen Bailey said on Sunday that he is 100 percent certain to return for his senior season. Bailey leads the Hurricanes in sacks (7) and tackles for losses (11) and was a first-team, All-ACC selection at defensive tackle even though he played the last part of the season exclusively at defensive end. “I’m going to stay,” Bailey told reporters following Sunday afternoon’s practice. “That’s all. We have a good shot next year to go all the way. It looks good.” If Bailey comes back, the Hurricanes will return eight starting defensive players next season, losing three seniors – defensive tackle Joe Joseph, middle linebacker Darryl Sharpton and safety Randy Phillips. Not as sure whether he will return next season is Leonard Hankerson, who leads UM in receptions (44), yards (773) and TD catches (6). “If any decision will be made, it will be after the bowl game,” said Hankerson, who has enjoyed a break-out season after struggling as a freshman and sophomore. Coach Randy Shannon said Sunday that he met with Bailey, Hankerson, offensive lineman Orlando Franklin and running back Graig Cooper late last month and advised them to request a projection from the NFL’s draft advisory committee on where they might be selected if they choose to leave school early. “I tell them my opinion and they go from there,” Shannon said without discussing what he told the players. “I haven’t been wrong very much.” - Jorge Milian, The Palm Beach Post

No doubt...I just think he's a little big for a DE spot. Dont see too many 315 DE's...even in a 3-4

I think UCLA might be little generous with the weight in the program guide.
