What an unbelievable final. Medvedev is the truth. He just pushed Nadal to his absolute limit. Was down two sets and a break, pushed it to a 5th set, and almost came back from 2 breaks down in the 5th. He might be the guy to finally break up the dominance of the big 3.

And don't look now but Nadal is just one Grand Slam away from tying Federer.

Nadal will pass Fed, but he is a time-waster and I like Federer way more. Djokovic will end up with the most when it's all said and done.

    I love watching Nadal play.

    I hate his rituals, though.

Federer would never waste time and be a unsportsman-like nuisance to his opponent.

Complaining about time wasting is just a sore loser complaint. Don't like it, beat him.

The server controls the pace of the game. A better umpire would have been stricter on Nadal constantly taking his sweet time and holding his hand/racket up to get Medvedev to wait.

Federer is all class. Nadal is mostly class.

The point of sports is to win, right? If annoying your opponent/getting in their head helps you to acheive that goal, then it's fair game. Nothing unsporting about it. Your gripe seems to be more with the umpire than Nadal.

Time violations are a thing in tennis and Nadal violated it constantly with little consequence from the Ump. Bending rules in such a way is New England-esque and not a likable quality.

If the ref isn't calling it, that's not the player's fault. He's just trying to win a match. A good player wouldn't be affected by those tactics.

Even good players are affected by those things. Bending the rules to win the match is Patriot-esque. Defend it if you must, but it is no different than the Pats doing something shady and claiming that it's not their fault.

FWIW, I have no issue with the pats pushing the rules to their advantage in game. Literally all 32 teams probably yet that. If Nadal were filming his opponent's practice or tampering with the balls then yes, I'd have as big as issue with him as the pats. But when you're on the field, everything the refs don't call is fair game.

What an amazing time to be a tennis fan. I think the only disappointing thing is the lack of a really good American man in the mix. I guess also the lack of a true rival for Serena.

Nadal is shoving it up Djokovic's ass in the French Open final right now.
