Both of those matches were fantastic.

Fed/Rafa at Wimbledon is hard to beat, but it's not my favorite match.

    What’s yours?

I have no idea. There have been a lot of really good ones that stick in my mind even if they aren't considered the best ever. Seeing Stan win the Aussie open was a fun one. Delpo at the US Open was cool too. Pretty much any showdown featuring Federer is fun.

Wave is right, Google says 2008 was the best Wimbledon match ever, but it doesn’t even hold a candle to the Federer-Roddick match to me. 16-14, Roddick’s last shot at Wimbledon, the after-match interviews: “I’m sorry, Pete. I tried.”

The stakes just felt higher in 08. You have the budding rivalry, Nadal finally breaking though on grass, and the drama of the match ending basically as it got pitch dark outside. The roddick one just felt like a letdown because he lost a big match like he always does. I know it was a great match, but it just didn't have the magic the one the year before had.

If we're using the "it was 16-14 in the last set" angle, then Isner-Mahut was the greatest match ever.

But it was like a second round match. 16-14 isn’t my only criteria.

A soccer and golf reverse call is topical in the tennis thread.

    **** Buff.

Abe started it with his outlandish #2 ranking.

    No. This is your fault.

    Roddick-Federer. Still a better match.

If this Isner/Anderson match ever ends and you want to see a couple of heavyweights, watch Nadal/Djokovic.
