I NO LONGER support Rahim Moore.
I'm not much of a fan of women's tennis but I like this Stousr. I'd be happy with her or Safina winning it.
Stosur gave a hard time to KUznetsova... I didn't expect that from her... She really is the surprise of this tournament (for women)... As Soderling is for men...
Now, I think Safina will win... She was really impressive against Cibulkova... And I think I will root for the less ugly![]()

I absolutely hate the state of pro tennis right now. Other than Nadal, every player on the tour is scared to death of Federer and every single time someone manages to get a lead on him, they choke it away. Every single time. Federer is nowhere near as good as he was in his prime but everyone still drops their pants and lets him give it to them when they play him in a major. Hopefully Soderling will man up in the final.
I see your point BTB... Sure ROger has a psychological advantaga over almost every player... But, it's also because his game is not easy to be matched up... Monfils told it very well : he has a lot of troubles playing Roger's way of playing...
When Roger is agressive like that and find back his backhand's slice, not many players have the key against that...
In the other hand, Roger has the same problem with Nadal... Because Nadal's balls are fast, heavy and so lifted he has to play farer in the court than usual... And when he tries to be more agressive he takes more risks and is less accurate because of Nadal's way of hitting balls.
I think you don't win 14 grand slam and have 20 finals only because players are scared by you... He played against some legends and won anyway (Agassi and so on)... Some very young players are coming now and can't yet dominate him now... But I don't think someone like Del Potro is really "scared" by Roger... Roger is one the best ever and certainly one of the most complete player ever.
The final was disappointing though... Soderling really doesn't know how to play Roger... BTW, Roger explained that Soderling won against guy who usually plays farer in the court (Nadal, Davydenko & Gonzales) than he does and that was certainly the key to beat Soderling...
I was really surprised by wowen's final... Safina really blew it up...

I didn't say he won 14 GS finals because people were scared of him. I just think he is winning more now because people are scared of him. He was outplayed at the beginning of his matches against PHM, Haas, and Del Potro in this tournament but once all 3 of them got the lead they just collapsed and let Federer take it. Same with Berdych back at the Australian Open. And as for today, Soderling was defeated before he stepped onto the court. It's just disappointing to say the least. It would be nice for a change for someone other than Nadal to step up and challenge Federer in a major. It's being said that Nadal's knee is bothering him again and his status at Wimbledon is questionable. If he can't play or if he isn't at full strength, they might as well just hand Federer the trophy now.
Fair enough...
I won't deny Roger has a huge psychologial advantage over almost every players now...
PHM? Well... He's French, so being the underdog, he should have won![]()
Haas? IMO he was ahead because Roger played awfully... When he found back his real play, he was too good for Tommy.
Del Potro? yeah, I will agree with you... But was it only mental? I think Roger played a bit better, Juan Martin had some physical pb (he began to be tired), and mentally, he saw Roger came back in the game and certainly the "fear" came then.
Well... against Soderling, yeah you're right... And Roger played very well very soon in the game to use this mental advantages...
You know, it's always the same... His skills allow him to have a mental advantage over his opponents and his mental advantage helps him to use better his skills...
Talking about the English... yeah, Roger is the best player there since many years.... Nadal's win was also explained by the fact the surface was slowed down that year : they compared Roger's service through the years and showed that at the same speed, last year, the ball was losing more than 1 metre... And Rafa also really improved there...
IMO, after winning RG & his 14th Grand Slam, I wouldn't be surprised if he breaks the record at Wimbledon...![]()
Nadal has withdrawn from Wimbledon, per ESPN.
No defending champion to start proceedings on the Monday.
Male tennis fans better get their hankies on standby:
Maria Sharapova a set down and trailing 3-0 versus Gisela Dulko of Argentina.
The two people I'm rooting for to win it now are Roddick and Karlovic. If Karlovic can keep serving like he did against Tsonga, he will be tough for anyone in this field to beat.
