Thread: Get your dogs fixed

    Default Get your dogs fixed

One of our dogs passed this morning.

Out of the blue she was fine and running around, then suddenly she layed down and wouldn't get up.

We rushed her into the vet and about 15 minutes later she died.

We had them do an autopsy and they found she had an infection from recently being in heat and it got into her blood stream.

She was about 8 years old and we kept telling ourselves we wanted to get her fixed, we just never got around to doing it. Crazy thing was we finally made the appointment, she was supposed to get fixed next week.

Please don't procrastinate. Just go get them fixed. You may be saving their life.

So sorry to hear that, but it's a good message. My parents adopted a Basset Hound years ago that was the greatest dog my dad ever had. When they got her, they insisted she was spayed and something similar happened with the infection shortly after taking her home. Thankfully she pulled through and lived a long happy life.

Sorry for your loss again and I hope people hear your warning.

    That’s tough. Sorry, man.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

That's awful. Very sorry to hear that. I didn't know that could cause problems either.

I think I've heard where bitches can get some kind of infection when they menstruate. they menstruate like human bitches, like they need tampons, they don't want to have sex,. all of the similar nonsense. but I'm not sure what the infection is, but also, I think it's an issue with bitches rather than intact male dogs
