Well, I don't know if the "struggles in cold weather" is true or not.
Did a few calculations, but I'll preface this with that I did it by month, not temperature, but it is interesting:
In December, Manning is 10-10, but if you take out his rookie year, where he was 1-6 overall (All of his seven starts came in Nov. and Dec.), he is 9-6 in December.
In November, he is 4-9, 4-7 taking his rookie season out.
In October, he is 11-1, clearly his best month. In fact, he's 8-0 in the last two years in October.
In September, he is 5-5.
So, hard to draw conclusions as far as temperature, but obviously, average temperatures in September are higher than in December, and he's got the same winning percentage.
I've watched him pretty closely over the past 2 years to see if the bashing is worth the time...can ya take a few moments to see his INT and fumble totals per month? Wins and Losses are more team related. I'll bet that his turnovers skyrocket and his "rating" plummet during the winter months.
A lot of ESPN football commentators don't like Eli because of his body language. Probably that stupid look on his face. But doesn't Payton have roughly the same body language? Helps when you're winning a lot of games.
Sean Salisbury is the worst hater of the bunch. I can't stand that guy. Everytime he is on the air my ears bleed.
I could see how they'd say that. Peyton looks like he gets pissed/upset. eli looks like he wants to cry sometimes. I can definitely see that in him.
He had countless fumbles at Buffalo this year and was a INT machine the last 2 Decembers. Now he was missing Toomer last year, but he still just doesn't seem right when he's cold.
OK...props to him for a great game vs New England, which kind of skew the stats, and he had 1 indoor game in November vs Detroit where his rating was 100, but here we go.
TD/INT Ratio.....13/9 in Sept/Oct.........10/11 in Nov/Dec
Rating.....82 in Sept, 76.7 in Oct..........66 in Nov, 71.2 in Dec
And here's an interesting one
SACKS....8 in Sept/Oct........19 in Nov/Dec
Other than his game vs NE, his last 5 ratings per game looked like this:
32.2, 51.1, 88, 63.0 and 33.8
Teams around the NFL just don't get it.
I am by no means a Pats fan, but the season started with Video Gate. NE proceeds to start whooping everyone arse up and down the field. THey start to cool down and someone like that CB from PItt starts mouthing off and he proceeds to get used.
Final game of the season the GIants bring up the video incident again. ALthough they played a great game...end result the lost.
Playoffs....Jags bring up the video incident..outcome = lost
Now..I just watched a 5 minute segment on Sportscenter about this AFCCG. I am glad now that players like Rivers and Olshansky want to talk so much trash. THey are going to get worked up and down the field.
One thing I can say about the Pats is, they are not the trash talking off the field type of team. I do respect that about them.
I hope SD gets beat 74 - 3
Finally, game day!!!
BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE
About time...I'm really looking forward to the GB/NY game. Could be a classic.
Yep, I'm ready for some FOOTBALL!!!
BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE
Actually, the one team I wouldn't mind trash talking is New England. Why? Because they haven't lost...but you're right, they don't. I'm rooting for New England. I hate Philip Rivers with a passion. That boy is a jackass.
I'm sure Volek will get the start today.
