Due to my job, I've been using Windows 7 for about 4 months now. I'm a bit biased, so remember that when regarding my opinion.

I think it's a very good OS, is everything Vista should have been, and more. I never liked Vista, and only moved to it 1 year ago, and will be installing 7 as soon as I back up my PCs. I highly recommend grabbing it for your computer(s).

For context, I also enjoy using Ubuntu and dual boot my primary computer.

I found a great torrent for it, and installed it today.

So far so good, and it's changed my laptop that I bought in Spain from Spanish to English!

I've been using it for a few months now, and it's not revolutionary but it is better than Vista or XP. I can't find 7 or Vista drivers for my 6-year-old laptop so that sucks and I'll probably end up going back to XP there, but everything else has been smooth sailing.

My favorite part is how easy it is now to share files between computers. I always had endless permission problems even when I tried opening things up completely. Using a Home Group solves all that. And it only took Microsoft 15 years to get it right.

Vista does suck as I have it at home on one computer but do have

Yep, it & Win7 released same day

My favorite feature of Win7 is the boot time. Like 10-20 seconds vs. about 60 seconds for my Vista PC at home.

I kind of got used to Vista. I'm afraid of screwing up my computer so I'll just keep it as it is for now.

Thnikk, my work computer's hard drive shit the bed this weekend. According to IT, I can have my new machine loaded with 7 or vista... I assume I should go with 7, right? Is there any reason I would want to stick with Vista?

Go with 7. It uses less resources, and has more useful features. It is to Vista what windows XP was to Windows ME. (If that makes sense).

That's a great analogy as to what it is.

The visual style looks the exact same as Vista. I always change my style to look like Windows 95 though.

I have a free copy of Windows 7 but have not yet transferred from Vista-64 namely because everything runs great as is and also because I don't really have any idea what Windows 7 brings to the table.
