Default So What Do You Do Today??

Tell me what lies ahead for you today! I love hearing about others and their own traditions, or lack of!

We are away from home.. so our traditions are a bit different this year. BUT... we still try for our 8 year old. We usually eat dinner on Christmas Eve with family... I cook this meal. Last night had Chili, monkey bread, salad, lots of sweets.. hot apple cider, egg nog and present opening.

Since we put our decor up the day after Thanksgiving and get a real tree on that day... on Christmas day it is .................... put it all away!! We usually eat at my parents... but they live far away so we are going to the WAFFLE HOUSE and let them do the cooking. (This of course after we have opened gifts, Santa arrived this morning and our 8 year old made out like a bandit!! Santa left a foot print in the fireplace though.. gotta write to him about that!)

Then after we are fat and full... down comes the tree!! I LOVE to decorate for Christmas.. kind of a fanatic about it, but when Christmas is OVER.. it is OVER! I get just as excited about putting it all away.

Share your holiday stories... Love to hear them.
    Merry Christmas.. to everyone!

Your Christmas would be stressful to me, Missy. (Ha! It's been awhile since I called you that, eh?)

I like LAZY Christmas mornings.....NO OBLIGATIONS.

I will take the tree down when I FEEL LIKE IT, and not a minute sooner.

Traditional Christmas'....what the heck is that these days? It seems every year, I have had to be 'flexible' in my thinking to a large degree. The family seems to change in dynamics on a yearly basis. And I always end up a few days before Christmas saying to myself, "This is just not what I want Christmas to be for me and my daughter."

New Year resolution? Less passivity, more of "this is my life too"...

One day, I would like to take my daughter to spend Christmas in the mountains. We search and cut down our own tree. She hunts for food. Fireplace (pre-split wood). No family saying "I want this, I want that". PEACE on Earth....let's not forget.

Open presents, eat food, take a nap, and thank god it's all over for another year.

I am smoking a turkey right now. Grilling some Ribeyes.

Kids were up at 4:50 am. All that is over.

Now I am going to eat, drink, and watch A Christmas Story on TBS.

Fly home whenever I can (already done this year)...and then on Christmas Day I chill and enjoy a day off and silence.

Well dear Jody.. bit of a attitude this Christmas morning.. where do you get that??? Not from me.....

The thing is your picture painted is GREAT the I will do it what I want when I want attitude... but you forgot one BIG important part of your picture..

The mountains, the fireplace, the cabin, the tree cutting all sounds so good.......... sending the child to hunt for food (great life lesson) even the "world peace" part, but you forgot to add a BIG strong good looking lumber jack, to split that wood, light that fire and go searching for the child in the mountains! What in the world will I do with you??

    Love,
    Missy!!!

Down here in the south.... the big thing is FRIED turkey. We have a half hour local show showing you how not to over fill your grease, how not to get burnt, and how not to start a fire.

I am a baked turkey girl... but no turkey today for us!!!

I really dont like Turkey...but I like FRIED turkey and SMOKED turkey. Had to make one as my brother wont eat red meat.

Good thing though, I didnt have to look far to find some hickory for the smoker since half of one fell on my back deck 2 weeks ago.

Already got presents opened with the kids, eating junk food breakfast and watching A Christmas Story. Later on we will go to 2 different grandparent houses and do the same thing at each place. Trees (4 of them!) will come down someday when I feel like it.
