Hot (104 right now). I think the high today was 112.
I hope Niner's ok, I think there were tornadoes in Springfield yesterday.
He's good unless he was at the Bedroom Expressions in Springfield.

The weather in Palmer Lake is great, but we could use a little rain! Seem all the rain is in the Midwest. I though there a "Flood" thread but couldn't find it. I got this email from my bother-in-law in Burlington, Iowa yesterday.
We started flooding here in Burlington and the surrounding area late last week. We started shoring up levees as soon as we knew that this was going to be serious. Last week I saw dad on Saturday [His dad lives across the river in Illinois.] and was already having a hard time getting around, by Sunday more roads were closed and today we are almost shut off from the north and east except by taking a long detour. It usually takes 90 minutes to get to the Quad Cities, now we have to go to Iowa City first making it a 3 hour trip.
People can not understand the devastation that has taken place here, and will continue to create havoc as the water moves south. It is essentially a half mile across our bridge to Illinois, the shore line of the Mississippi has now moved approximately 5 miles to the east, and Hwy 34 is now under 7-10 feet of water that entire distance. Of course there used to be a town between the old shore line and where it is now and a lot of other housing as well. There has been a huge turn out of people helping each other and quite a huge community effort to build up the levees with sand bags. I spent two days with the Red Cross (I'm on the local board) passing water, feeding folks and filling and throwing sand bags. Many folks think that it is just farmland that was flooded but you have numerous small towns, hamlets etc. where these farmers live that have been destroyed. The grain bins, grain elevators along the Mississippi, hog lots, cattle, have all been lost. They don't think that the roads will be opened for at least 6 weeks at a minimum.
I will tell you one thing I haven't heard yet from anyone is how George Bush is to blame, we are all too busy taking care of each other and our neighbors to play that game, not in the Midwest. No one is thinking about how to make a political statement out of this.
We are going to need a lot of money to get people back in their homes and to do the cleanup, which we will probably do ourselves, not holler and scream for the govt. to do it.
Many people will probably relocate and not rebuild, even though they have lived in some of these areas for generations. People will probably ask what the crap they were living in these areas for in the first place, but again this type of flooding has NEVER occurred in the past, this is the worst on record. They thought the flood of "93" was a hundred year flood, they are
saying this is a 500 year flood.
Great fishing weather today, but I woke up too late to get the white bass in their morning show. Guess I'll have to wait for next weekend. Today is supposed to be in the low 90s with a 30% chance of rain.

Only 2 weeks left here in La/Ms and heading back to ND. Typical afternoon T-storms here but actually been cooler because of them. Next week taking the kids crabbing/saltwater fishing so I hope the weather stays like it is. Lows 60s/70s, Highs 80s
should only be in the high 90's today with a chance of spitting rain (just enough to cause spotting on the newly washed car)..
Out here the winds come up and blow dust around and then it spits few drops and the dust settles on the car..
We get so little rain here that they did not even put in storm sewers.. So the rain is carried down the streets to huge usually fenced in pits to drain into in some parts of the city these are grassy parks and they create temp lakes until the rain sinks in... Pretty efficient overall.. They then pump the "lake water" out into the park sprinklers system saving water for a few weeks.
This week traditionally starts monsoon season till the middle to late August when we get the bulk of our 7" of water a year..
