At least we have about another month before the monsoon season starts big time..

I have a master cool (Swamp) Air cooler on the roof and when the humidity goes up they totally lose effectivness.

Fortunately today I have not been outside other than to water the tomato plants.. It has been a comfortable 74 most of the day..

Lets see. Cedar Falls (an hour north of here) and the surrounding communities are flooded out. We have water half way up the side of houses. Iowa City (where the University of Iowa is) is getting close to being flooded. When the water goes over the spillway (in the picture shown below), then the flow of the iowa river can no longer be controlled.

Here in Cedar Rapids, we have some flooding in our downtown area. I am fortunately up on high ground so I am not getting affected flooding. To give you guys an idea of how bad it is, some areas that are currently flooding are 10 feet about flood stage. This is the same magnitude as Katrina was. And to add insult to injury, here is our forecast for this week which isn't as bad as it was 2 days ago.

I got mind control while I'm here
You goin' hate me when I'm gone
Ain't no blood clot and no fear
I got hope inside of my bones

we had the freakiest weather here today, started out absloutely gorgeous, sunny and clear then about noon the sky turned black, if I didn't know any better, I would have expected a tornado warning, then comes the hail followed by nasty lightning right on top of us and the ensuing thunderstorm with torrential rain for an hour or so, then get this, it begins to snow for about half an hour, then cloudy, the clouds let up and then it got clear and the rest of the day was pretty nice. Tomorrow our high is supposed to be 45 and snow is expected again but by Friday its supposed to be in the 70s! frigging Montucky weather is insane

I still say when the high for the day is at midnight....something is wrong.

We've both had it bad recently! Although it snowed here for four hours yesterday with whiteout conditions to the immediate north and south. And no sunshine or hail. But the thunderstorm at 5 am was a doozy.

Here in SW Louisiana, humid and hot, high of low 90's. Back at home at MAFB, cool and chance of rain, high of low 50s. I can't wait to get back to MAFB
