Total opposite from last year where we had flooding, snow, rain, and cold temps! Today, we're under a red flag warning and it'll get up into the mid 60s, people are even watering their lawns aready!

Highs predicted to be 74 for today and tomorrow. Sunny and clear, the ex has my daughter this weekend so I am going fishing!
Do you ever screw around with the gators! I grew up in SW La and we would go out in those marshes, gators everywher, anyhow take that top water lure right in front of his snout and bam, you go one on the line. Of course, the game wardens see you harassing them and you're in deep doo-doo! I was in high school then and wouldn't take the risk now!
Anyhow, back on topic, it's sunny!
Wow, I've haven't seen it rain this hard since Hurricane Andrew and this is North Dakota. Baseball has been wet and crappy this spring, it's usually warm and dry. Go away rain!!
Come here, it only rains 3 or four days a year. In a wet year maybe five days of rain here. I won't tell you about the 102º it is today.
Merry.
I'm so sick of this bi-polar weather

In lovely interior Alaska (30 miles North of Fairbanks) it's partly cloudy with temps in the mid 60s. The Summer Solstice is in 5 days. Big celebration time here!!!
I have no pride and I know no shame
must be when you have sunlight for an extra 12 minutes.
Was there i AUg a few years ago and seeing folks fishing in broad daylight at midnite was a bit disconcerting.
Great country but a weeeeee bit cold for me in the winter. and the only snow I want to see is on TV at football games.
I know what you mean, the first time I walked out of a bar after midnight with the sun in my eyes was a real shocker!
As far as the winters, well...I grew up in Wisconsin, so I see a BIG difference in cold and miserable. Here it's just cold. If you want a miserable place for a winter, try Buffalo, NY. They have that wet, heavy snow that dumps a ton at a time along with those icy winds. You have to scrape ice off your windshield every morning. And no matter how many clothes you wear, you're still cold.
Here in the Interior, it's VERY dry. If you layer your clothing, cold is not a problem, even at -40 below. All the snow is powder, so to clean your windshields, you simply puff and blow it all off. It's incredibly beautiful here. There are very little winds so the snow stays in the tree branches for long periods of time and since the temps are so crisp, the snow just sparkles. We also don't get the black/gray slush on the side of the roads like they do in the lower 48.
It's just that those numbers (-40, -50 below zero) are hard for people to wrap their heads around. Realistically, I would say -40 below here is the equivalent of maybe -5 below in Chicago, misery wise. My only complaint is that winter here lasts so damn long, anywhere from 7 - 8 months.
I have no pride and I know no shame
I'm civilian, but there is a heavy military presence here along with a sizable veteran population. I just LOVE Alaska, but my time here is short. My job is calling me to return to Denver in late July and I'm looking forward to it. I lived there for about 25 years and so it's more home for me than anywhere, but I HIGHLY recommend Alaska. I will miss this place.

Lots of severe weather...glad i wasn't the guard unit at Camp Grafton South in tents last night.
Tonight through tomorrow afternoon, sustained winds at 35-45 with gusts up to 60 mph. My oldest son has a Babe Ruth tournament in Mandan tomorrow and Sat and driving down Hwy 83 is gonna suck and my youngest son has a Cal Ripken tournament in Grand Forks, so the wife only has to coast with the winds to get there.
Monsoon rains, lightning earlier here in Minot and now the winds are howling!! BTW, I really like Minot and NODAK but I will not miss the winds!
