    Default New Depth Chart (UPDATES!!!)

I thought for sure BMARSH was going to get #2. I don't feel that Stokely has earned it.

The only other thing that i'm taking note of is the TE situation. If in fact Mikey will be going to more of a 2 TE set or 3 as someone mentioned.

It will be interesting to see then exactly who (TE) will line up where.

im pretty sure graham and alexander will both be in on for sure running plays. that will keep the d on their toes as to which side we will run. sheffler and jackson in on passing plays. we kept the best 5 tight ends if were going with 2 tight end sets.

im glad to see todd handling both punt and kickoff duties. we dont need any more specialist.

I think that Hamilton should be bracketed as he is a concussion problem that last thing I have heard.

    Good post BTW

    Default Some surprises here . . .

    Thanks, DB.

While I am mildly surprised Stokley is ahead of Marshall, it is Marshall who has
not earned it. Stokley is a nine-year veteran with a phenomenally successful
record. They do not have the slightest doubt as to what he can do. Marshall
may well be #2, but he has not had sufficient chance to prove himself. He
may still vault himself into that position before the season is over.

Kuper is a mild surprise. I believe he has a greater upside than Holland, yet
the latter has done a superb job in blocking, according to reports. I guess
Kupe's natural talent is taking over.

Although Harris is listed as Lepsis' backup, they probably would send Pears back
over to LT if anything happened to Lepsis, even if Harris were healthy.

Wow, Scheffler #3? A lot of people had Alexander gone, yet now he
is listed at #2. A great deal of that probably is Scheff's need to play himself
back into footall shape. Even then, Alexander shows up far from the bubble.

I am also surprised at RB, but not necessarily FB. Young is the surprise. I
expected to see him at #2, and now he's at the bottom of the food chain.
I guess the coaches aren't yet convinced that Young will translate his
preseason success into the regular season? At FB, I suspected something
was up. Bell is an absolute misfit at FB, and Sapp has pared his weight
down to RB size and would not be the FB he was before. The surprise there,
however, is Paul Smith . . . I thought he be gone long before now.

On the defensive side, I simply see a lot of talent there (well, I would like
to see another good DT in there). The staff had better do something good
with that group or get a defensive coach in here who can.

    sweet, kuper starting as predicted!

it's also good to see that hixon has taken control of both the return jobs. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Glad to see Paymah moving up. I've been watching him for awhile and I think he has all the talent to be a solid starter; he only has to get those fundamentals down. As for the running situation, I think it's amorphous. We'll probably see Bell and Sapp in the RB position as well as at FB (although I still have a hard time imagining Bell at FB). Stokely is a surprise, but it wouldn't be a stretch to say Marshall will eventually take that spot.

Our D-Line looks like total crap. :|

If Rice comes in, will he take over for Dumervil or Engleberger?

I may be wrong, but I don't see him stepping in for Engelberger.

    Rice is so-so against the run . . .

Is there any chance that there is mistake that Stokley is ahead of Brandon, because like someone else said, he hasn't earned it in my opinion.

I don't think this is the current depth chart. It's the EXACT same depth chart that has been up for weeks, minus the cuts. I wouldn't put any stock into it until we see what is really is on Sunday.

I don't know why there is such wailing and gnashing of teeth over this year's #2 receiver and tight end.

Stockley is a known quantity. Marshall might be good, he might be injured, or he might not be able to be counted on when it really counts. If he shows the coaching staff that he has what it takes, you can bet that they will move him up the depth chart. Right now, he must not have calmed whatever fears that the staff have about his play. They have the video and it doesn't lie.

IMO the Broncos will be running the ball more than usual (which is alot) to take the pressure off of Jay. That calls for blocking from your tight end. Sheff ain't there, yet.

It is still my opinion that the rushing offense will have to carry the whole team for at least the first few games.

Hey coach welcome to the forum. Nice to have an analytical looks at the problem.

Like I said, I highly doubt that this is the actual depth chart, seeing as it hasn't changed AT ALL over the past few weeks, other than removing cut players. I will just about guarantee that Marshall and Scheffler are the #2 WR and TE on opening day.
