Que Robinson, EDGE, Alabama
Draft Projection
Rounds 5-6
Overview
Fifth-year senior with a “tweener” body type but glimpses of pro potential. Robinson played primarily on special teams until 2024. He’s long and athletic but might be too light for the edge. He needs more schooling and game reps to play off the ball. He can run the arc as an edge rusher and has the ability to mismatch guards as an off-ball blitzer or spy mobile quarterbacks. Robinson lacks physicality, but he has enough traits to warrant consideration as a four-phase special-teamer with developmental potential as a hybrid 3-4 linebacker.
Strengths
Sets edges with proper leverage and extension.
Can punch and play around blocks in space.
Can beat guards with arm-over as an off-ball blitzer.
Quick change of direction as an open-field tackler.
Has speed and range to spy mobile quarterbacks.
Full-time, four-phase special-teamer.
Weaknesses
Played less than 400 career run/pass snaps, per PFF.
Below-average recognition in the run game.
Needs to learn to get away from big blockers more quickly.
Skill set as a pass rusher needs development.
Displays some hip tightness getting around the corner.
Odd selection here.
It's pretty clear what the gameplan is, and I respect it.
Okay. I'm honestly not sure how to assess this draft, because I don't know who any of the picks past Barron are. On paper, it kinda looks like a 2nd round Jahleel, a 3rd round Vele, and. . . another Jonathon Cooper? Then we take yet another edge, who sounds like a practice squad guy. I need one of you smart fans to explain this shit to me, because I still don't see any O-line depth, any D-line depth, a starting RB, a tight end with any kind of potential behind Engram, or any receiver who really fits in the slot. Granted, I'm an idiot, so there's that. But on paper, this kinda feels like our dumbest draft since the Jerry Jeudy one, the class that finally convinced Elway to fire himself. Oh well. I'm glad we got some legit help in free agency, because I'm not seeing where this class is likely to contribute much aside from Jahdae.
- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
Unlike you, I acknowledge their actual experience and success. They clearly put in more time than we do. That said, it's odd to me that a guy with this limited time got taken this early. Wonder if it's combine, workout, specific skill set we are missing? I'm at least open to hear what they like about a player and don't just act like a lazy hater over every pick.
Waiting 3 days to find out you're going to Cleveland lol
Damn. Effing cowballs got my guy.

Barron is Barron. I get the pick. Top DB in college football last year. He was a premium player at a premium position. The defense had its issues when Moss got injured. Now we have a young stud who can play a number of positions in the secondary. Thats a 1st round win imo.
Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't appear Payton was looking for a FT RB. With Harvey, he'll be able to insert him and Estime/McLaughlin depending on the down and distance. He's got some burst and wiggle to him with a little homerun ability to top it off. He should see the field plenty when he gets the playback down.
Bryant is a bit of a head scratcher. He's not a blazer, his 40 time was in the 4.6 range. But yet he still had a really good yard per reception rate and he's known as a route junkie with good hands.
Robinson has been mentioned as a freak athlete. Coming out of HS he was a Safety at one point before a growth spurt then got moved to DE his Jr. year. A 4* prospect. He was still evolving as a an edge player but had the skill set needed to flourish. He was evaluated as a potential 2-3rd prospect. He had a pretty solid 2024 season going till he had a season ending elbow injury.
Fvck Pete Carroll.
