Abe said he's reading about Geddy Lee, the dude from Rush.

Rush had that song Tom Sawyer, and my impression is that people are ok with it, most sorta like it, but Geddy Lee's voice doesn't do it for them.

    I get it.

Well, not everyone has to like everything. I like Rush. Geddy's voice is cool imo. He's very skilled, and even if his timbre and quality in the range that he sings isn't one's cup of tea, his technical chops are great. He's also playing bass and keys at the same time so that's cool.

    Let's talk about Rush.

Here are my favorite Rush albums and songs.

    Permanent Waves
    Moving Pictures
    2112
    A Farewell to Kings
    Hemispheres

    Songs....

    Red Barchetta
    Tom Sawyer
    The Spirit of Radio
    Subdivisions
    Freewill
    Limelight
    Xanadu
    La Villa Strangiato
    Bastille Day
    By-Tor and the Snow Dog
    Working Man
    Closer to the Heart
    Finding My Way
    Passage to Bangkok
    The Trees

2112 songs, no idea what they are called
A Farewell to Kings songs, no idea their names. Madrigal is one, and it's good.

    YYZ is great.

That's about all I know. I'm down to discover what I missed. Anyone into Rush? I've heard that Roll the Bones, Signals, Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Presto, and Hold Your Fire are quality albums.

Rush has a claim to GOAT, so let's not be disrespectful.

I love Rush! Saw them in 1982 with Def Leppard opening for them. What a great concert. Rush killed it!

2112 and Hemispheres is peak. I saw them live once, the Presto tour. I haven’t listened to any album after Presto because I didn’t like it and felt like they lost their ballsy sound.

I saw them in 2010 or so, badass concert. They were one of my favorite bands in high school.

Beyond the Lighted Stage is a great documentary.

2112 is my favorite album of theirs and one of my GOATS.

They've got a lot of good ones/solid ones, but like most bands from their time, the 80s/90s is not my vibe generally.

I'd say they have a good 4-5 good-great albums at least.

Technically sound, terrific musicians, good songwriting…. Never been a fan. Never NOT been a fan either though.

They never grabbed my attention. Nothing ever drew me in enough to sit a while and put it on repeat.

If there’s one that should, post it up, I’ll give a listen

I never could get into rush. Incredible musicians. Peart is one of my all-time favorite drummers.

Great band, Peart was one of the best drummers ever in music.

My favorite Rush song is Red Barchetta. It's this compelling dystopia about a teenage boy daydream that isn't smutty and the music is tight and interesting. Phenomenal song. I don't think I'd be that interested in Rush if it wasn't for Spirit of Radio and Red Barchetta. Those two songs are magical.

Working Man also has some juice, and their instrumentals like YYZ and Villa Strangiato as well as a lot of 2112 are great background music. Sometimes my favorite music does work in the background while I'm enjoying other things.

Overall I think the attention given to Peart is the most on point. While Geddy Lee is that good, there's also the question of engagement. It's fair.

I tried. Had it on repeat, background, foreground, driving, headphones cleaning the pool…

Great song, terrific lyrics and story, well-played, great musically.

It doesn’t speak to me, and it’s the vocals. Just doesn’t do it for me. Too…. 80s generic I think.

Like, if I think 80s glam rock, be it massive stage or old Vegas Fremont strip area, it’s that voice and intonation.

I’m being overly picky, he’s got a great voice, it just feels hollow to me. Not my jam.

I hate when there’s music you can recognize as very good, but not like it. Art is fickle.
