The TD throw to Mims that went 50 yards in the air down the seam against the Browns was on a line. He also had the longest completion in the air in the NFL this year, 67 yards in the air. He had another completion go 65 yards in the air. There was also a drop by Frankin that went 65 yards in the air. He has a lot more arm talent than I thought he did coming out of Oregon.
I would assume we’ll see more deep outs this coming season as Payton looses the reins a little bit.
What’s really encouraging to me is he got better as the year went on. Usually the first year isn’t like that for rookie’s quarterbacks; typically defenses figure out their limitations in the second half of the season.
Like the dodge colt we drove around Phoenix when I was a kid. No AC in Phoenix for like 5 years. I've been to hell, I was raised there. So while reading Jaded's Bo Nix takes can be upsetting it is not quite as bad as listening to Reo Speedwagon in a dodge Colt with black interior and no A/C in AUGUST!
Let's Rid3!!!!
If I’m wrong Nix hasn’t proven it yet.
Y’all can fall for the banana in the tailpipe but to this point the only difference between Trevor Siemien and Bo Nix is Gary Kubiak and Sean Payton.
I may end up being wrong, but this kid is a thoroughly JAG talent so far. One pass to Marvin Mims is not a Franchise QB made, the difficult Josh Allen passes are not there and he’s nobody’s idea of Joe Burrow v2.0.
Plus, he reminds me of Jamie Dutton with stupid hair. Trust the science.
Why do you think the 49ers are struggling to extend Brock Purdy? The law of diminishing returns is the biggest concern with game manager QBs.

“I’m just different!”
“ . . . Picture a cup in the middle of the sea”
Draft
1st round— Shemar Stewart 5-T (Best talent in the draft)
2nd round— Shavon Revel CB (1st round prospect before knee injury)
3rd round— Savion Williams WR
4th round— Charles Grant LT
6th round— Vernon Broughton 3-T
6th round— Tyler Shough QB
6th round— Dont’e Thornton WR
If Trey Lance stayed healthy and panned the 49ers would’ve already extended him, but Purdy is a game manager and the 49ers know it.
If the 49ers were smart they’d franchise tag Purdy into the next 3 years, but this is what they get for not wanting to develop a better prospect.

lol. Imagine having one of the best rookie seasons ever and some guy on the internet with zero football pedigree thinks you suck. Poor Bo…
I cited 3 passes not one; all of which demonstrate at least better than average arm talent at the least even to a skeptic. Convincing a cynic is another matter entirely. :-)
His physical talent is far beyond any of those game managers you mentioned. He is obviously not Josh Allen, but if that’s your litmus test than neither is anyone else on planet earth save half a dozen men on the planet between the ages of 23-33.
How does the creator of this stat list define “deep pass?” When breaking up passes attempted and completed by depth range, I hear a lot of game commentators lump everything that’s 20+ yards together in one category. Correct me if I’m wrong; but can’t your average high school QB complete passes of at least 20 yards? So, if that’s what the stat list creator means by “deep pass,” I assume agree with Jaded that this not that impressive of a feat.
Back in 1984, I bought an advanced football board game, APBA, along with the 1983 season cards. A couple of years later, I bought the 1985 card set. I’ve included the link to their website so you can see what kind of game I’m referring to:
https://apbagames.com/football
They had 4 different passing depths: screen, short (less than 15 yards), medium (15-30 yards) and long (over 30 yards). Meanwhile, there were game commentators that advocate just throwing the ball about 50 yards down field, even if its not completed, just to put it in the heads of the D that you can do it. Therefore, although I’d acknowledge that 20 yards is a good measure in as far as it being a distance that can be complete at what I’d consider a high enough rate, I don’t find such stat at all impressive in terms of demonstrating arm strength.
So, how would I measure arm strength? The ability to hit receivers…
1) …in tight coverage on a regular basis.
2) …40+ yards down the field a couple of times per game.
Whether or not the receivers fail to do their job by dropping the ball is beside the point. The question when evaluating any aspect of a QB is, can he do his job? As far as whether or not Bo can meet my standards, I haven’t been able to watch enough of his games to know. Some of you are saying, yes, he has hit what I’d consider deep passes on several occasions, while Jaded is insisting on them not happening often enough. Although I have no way to objectively assess the case both side are making, I do want to leave this conversation by pointing out that the HC & OC both make decisions that impact how often their QBs can even attempt what I’d consider a deep pass.
