    Default Time to move on?

    Broncosforums family,

It is with a heavy heart I even start this poll. There are very few of us left around anymore and it seems it’s less relevant every day. Tned has been the benefactor here for a long time and has committed to keeping the lights on as long as the community wants.

So, I ask you, Is it time to turn the lights off?

I’ve loved this place and most of the people I’ve met here over the years. If this goes away I will still maintain friendships with many people I met here. I can EASILY count 9 people I met here that have become important in my life and to me. I’ll still maintain those friendships, hell if you have my number you’re counted in that number and in hope we maintain contact and friendships…

Anyhow…. What are your thoughts? Have we run our course and off to Reddit, Discourse, etc?

I appreciate the fact that you’re the one who carries the burden of keeping this site running, so the final decision is yours. I too have noticed the lack of fresh blood over the past few years, which I’ve attributed primarily to the almost decade long mediocrity that our team has gone through. If we do want to say this site, we need to talk about what we can do to increase membership.

On thought that I just came up with is starting an official Broncosfourms YouTube channel where interested members can participate in various discussions. I would be interested heading up such a channel. However, as I’ve before when discussing my Autism channels, I need partners I can dialog with because I don’t do quality monologues.
I’m an Autistic Self-Advocate. If you have any questions about Autism/Asperger’s, feel free to ask. I’m not offended by any question asked by anyone who has a genuine desire to understand us better.

This site was created largely because the team-affiliated message board cracked down on any/all political & religious discussion... It was predominantly the most conservative posters who came here initially and it was a bit of a refuge from the oppressive corporate site. I distinctly remember Topscribe (and maybe Carol?) invited me to join - if we're honest - because they needed a liberal punching bag, a yin to their yang.

Slowly the place grew - and a few times there was an influx/consolidation from other broncos sites.

It's funny because that has spawned a handful of irl friendships for me - years of productive community discussions for a lot of people... Tailgates. Texts. Meetups, Shotgun Willies visits, etc. And at the same time, the politics have devolved over the years... Media has dispersed. People have aged out, moved on.

Much like Tned, I will come here as long as this place exists... My role today isn't much different than it was 15+ years ago when I joined. And at the same time, I don't begrudge anyone who is ready to move past all of this.

Keep it open. I still check in many times a day.

I'll continue to check in as long as this place is around, but at a certain point the cost to run it plus the return on investment might make it rough so I get it if it goes away! If it does, we could all start a Discord group or something to shoot the shit and keep in touch.

While my life has become busier with my YT channel and life i still like to check in on people here even if it isnt as much as before. But i do understand the costs of running such a thing so whatever the choice is i accept it. But i do hope that if it closes people can move to discord or another service just to stay in touch and talk shop that way if they are up to it.

It’s time. Had a great run and in its heyday this place was awesome but when you have to do a wellness check to find Carol you know it’s over.

But if we close it down, where will I go when Bo Nix leads the Broncos to the superbowl this year?

You’re always welcome at my place, Abe. Slim’s too, but don’t forget the pants rule.

Or, they can revamp the whole website. Eliminate some threads. Add some new features, etc.
