Mostly the officiating and the blatantly stupid offense promoting rules that are couched as safety rules. That penalty on Locke was the it for me. I just can't watch this bastardized version of football anymore.
How many times have you seen a RB lower his head and pummel through defenders? Ever seen one called for helmet to helmet? How many times have you seen a WR lower his head at the last second and the defender is the one that gets the call? It's not about player safety.
P.I calls are also making the game virtually unwatchable for me. Every pass play is like a game of "is there a PI call or not" instead of a game of football.
It's just so damn unenjoyable to watch and I have been realizing for years now that I don't even watch because I like it, it's just muscle memory at this point. I need to break it and I really think the NFL has finally done it for me.
Let's Rid3!!!!
It’s almost as if Bo Nix really is just a rookie and not the perfect “fits the system” CJ Stroud, fairytale Unicorn that Broncos fans seem to be expecting.
This is not Sean Payton’s fault, people, he’s a legit HoFer.

Broncos fans acting like this wasn’t the most likely scenario all along.
Imma embrace the suck and enjoy watching (what is hopefully) the development of a FranQB.
The Broncos have exactly ONE Core player, they need more blue chip players across the board.
This is the way.

Welp my Bears fan friend is legit pissed and I’m more just disappointed lol
I’m still not ready to lose my mind but we need to see things start gelling more. This team is desperately lacking playmakers so right now it’s all just reps until they can figure out something or people start breaking tackles (and stop dropping balls and throwing redzone INTs!
Screw this game and I’ll see you next week. I love this stupid team and I’m glad we are finally taking a rebuild seriously even if it sucks right now.
I was at the game and a few things stood out to me:
1. Whether it’s play calling or Nix’s comfort level, this is a dink and dunk offense for the most part.
2. This is the most overpaid offensive line in football.
3. The DPI on Moss was the correct call. There are actually categories for DPI and arm restriction is one of them.
4. I don’t understand concerns about Nix’s arm strength. He made that throw on the flea-flicker without having his feet set. Even more impressive to me was a bad ball where he overthrew Mims and out of bounds. He threw it from almost one side of the field to the other about 60 yards downfield. That was impressive.
5. Like Jaded, I want to see where this goes. Everybody got spoiled by Houston last year. What we’re seeing out of Nix is more the norm for rookie QB’s. I see flashes that make me think that once the game slows down for him he may turn into something.
6. The best thing that could happen this year is a bad W/L record with good development at QB.

#6 is absolutely the correct observation. This team is no close to being competitive for a playoff spot. That’s why I cautioned earlier to slow your roll with Nix. But he isn’t the main issue. It’s the shitty OL, the OL coach, the antiquated offensive scheme, the WR group the offers almost the exact same skills set excluding Mims, which Payton has no idea how to use properly.
The team is “finally” in a complete rebuild-which was long overdue- and my hope is Payton gets off his pompous ass and scales this scheme back to give Nix an chance to succeed.
It sucks to lose games like that, but it could be worse. We could be the Ravens, Bengals, or Rams and a playoff team that has started off 0-2 after big expectations. Losing 50 million in salary cap to pay for Mr Unlimited meant we’d have to scrounge the budget bin for players this season and maybe next until that salary comes off the books. I think a lot of us had high hopes for Nix, especially after his preseason performance and being Payton’s chosen guy. I still have hope from what little I know of nix and his character and ability that he can be our QBOTF. I just hope that if this season doesn’t go well, the ownership group doesn’t get antsy and fire Payton. The next coach would then likely toss Nix to the side and the carousel starts all over again.
In my limited football expertise, these are things I’ve noticed that I think we can do better on:
1) the playcalling. Payton is supposed to be an offensive genius and QB whisperer but he’s doing Nix zero favors out there. Run on first down into a stacked box for 2 yds and then go 5 wide without even a RB in to help with protections and wonder why the rookie QB is struggling to get in rhythm and the offense isn’t working. No play action, running directly into the teeth of the defense, and leaving your young QB on an island against one of the best pass rushes in the league with not even a hint that they might have to respect the run is a disaster. You’ve got Mims and Franklin and don’t try at least one PA deep shot to either to back off the defense a little? Why do we even have fast guys?
2) Javonte Williams. Dude has lost all vision and burst. He’s become a plodder who just runs to where the hole should be and headlong into the defense. I saw plenty of cutback lanes open up during his runs and he’d just run directly into the back of his Oline. When he did hit a hole, he was too slow and couldn’t get up to speed to make any difference. Can’t burst through a hole, can’t see holes open up, not fast enough to run away from anyone and can’t get the corner on outside runs. It’s time to get the younger guys the majority of the carries. Badie had one carry for 16 yards… never touched the ball again. McLaughlin is better than JW right now. Time to see what Watson has.
3) the TE situation is atrocious. Dulcich is hot garbage. Bad hands, runs bad routes, doesn’t block, etc. He’s the only one with mismatch speed but he doesn’t get open. When he does, he drops the ball or doesn’t fight for catches. Where’s Krull or that huge guy we signed from SD. They’re mismatches with their size at least and can block.
4) WRs. We cut Tim Patrick why, again? At least he had reliable hands and had seemed to develop some rapport with the rookie. We only really have 2 guys who have true pro speed and one is relegated to STs (Mims) and the other doesn’t play or when he does, he doesn’t get targeted (Franklin). Sutton and Reynolds are JAGs who aren’t overly fast and can’t get separation without scheming them open. When they do get targeted, it’s 50/50 they can make a play.
5) the oline? I don’t know if Bolles is still banged up or has just gotten worse. He had a very bad day. I don’t know if the oline is bad at run blocking or the RBs are bad at following blocks but the run game is the worst in the league. Payton/Lombardi needs to figure it out and fix it. Bo will not develop with zero help from the running game.
6) Bo Nix. Still a work in progress. A lot can be done to help him that doesn’t seem to be happening. I’m no QB whisperer so I don’t know if his accuracy and int issues are just having him difficulties reading the defense or forcing throws due to nobody being open. I have faith Bo will be good to go by season’s end by getting reps.
I don’t have a ton of complaints about the defense other than Surtain. Most of the defense are what they are, JAGs, and they’re doing the best they can. Some guys are playing better than others and I have faith for some of the young guys like Elliss and Locke to be long term answers. Surtain carries the reputation and now the salary of a premier “lockdown” corner but just hasn’t ever been that guy. He gets paid to remove the #1 WR from the gameplan and he never really delivers. He’s a good player, but he’s not great. It doesn’t help that he seems to be a flag magnet when guys like Sauce Gardner get away with much worse every play. Dude needs to play better. He’s not Champ, he’s not Deion, not Talib, not even Chris Harris right now and he needs to be. He needs to play the ball instead of the man. He’s constantly getting flagged for hands on the receivers instead of just taking the ball away. Even if he’s in prime position, either it’s a catch or a PI. No QB fears him. He hasn’t given them reason to.
Oh, and the STs seem to be doing an amazing job. No complaints at all.

5) the early part of these new 17 game seasons is going to be the only time an OL gets to develop and get into form. There’s just no time in off-season and training camp. JMO, FWIW I hate this OL.
6) I think all of Nix’s Int’s were bad reads (he also had two in Seattle that were dropped), however, I don’t think this is a long term issue.
Nix put some stank on the pass to Sutton, need more of that to loosen up the dinks and the dunks.

I would trade Boles (one flag magnet) straight across for Broderick Jones (another flag magnet), get younger, better in the run game and cost certainty in the process. Bolles is allegedly one of the best pass blocking LT’s in the league and Jones is getting beat out by the rookie.
Throw in the ever-overrated Courtland Sutton too.
Win/win/win
