Default Benjamin Albright confirms that Elway was behind the Hackett Hire

I guess that Mile High View isn't looking so bad after all. Benjamin Albright confirmed that Elway was behind the Nathaniel Hackett hire, and that he was going to bring Aaron Rodgers to Denver (which was an empty promise).

If Hackett was bringing Karen Rodgers with him that is a no-brain hire.

JFE has taken enough bullshit from so-called Broncos fans.

Agreed. He was the master mind behind the roster that won our last superbowl. People need to shut it.

Not really. For example, Elway wanted Marcell Dareus in 2011. Bowlen and Adam Peters made him take Von Miller.

After Bowlen left, Elway has run amok, and his FO and scouting department is complete garbage. They draft the same type of players every year (WR's who can't catch, tall CB's who can't run, undersized 4-3 edge rushers who don't fit a 3-4, etc...).

Right, because Bowlen was known to do stuff like that and Adam Peters could direct Elway with a stern glance.

Well said, taking this even deeper; JFE built the best offense in recent history (and I think statistically this still holds true), and when that got to a SB but failed he “scrambled” and built one of the best defenses in the history of the NFL . . . and won a SB with one of the worst OC’s/Offenses to ever win a SB.

    Greatness.

That’s what he does, that’s all he does!

99% of Broncos fans at the time wanted Dareus, I’ve never heard JFE’s name mentioned in any connection whatsoever. JFE built his defense around pass rush, starting with Von, then Ware and then Shane Ray. His stance on building a defense is Irrefutable.

I have long believed that Elway was better at picking D players because it was easy for him to spot the kind of opposing player who caused him the most trouble throughout his playing career.

Yeah, but the way him and his FO is building teams is outdated. He rarely seems to draft offensive or defensive linemen high, and build from the inside out. He drafts these undersized 4-3 ends like Nick Burrito and this Elliss guy that can't play, and he drafts CB's who are tall and slow like Omejudia and Isaac Yiadom. It's the same flawed formula every year. The new ownership should have gotten rid of all of them two years ago.

Elways teams failed because of two reasons - bad coaching hires and a bad qb situation

I mean you do know that Elway isn't in charge anymore right?

That's not what Sean Payton said. He said that he still has an office, and that they would look forward to working with him. Also, his nephew, Patrick Walsh (who has been there since at least 2017), is the pro player director or something like that.
