Teams have been winning SB's with above-average/pretty good/Not great LT's or talented LTs forever.

Mahomes has never won a SB with a great LT. Nor PFM, I don't think Brady did post Matt Light, either. But the Titans, Browns, and Cowboys--just to name a few--of the last 15 years have had vaunted lines and Pro Bowl LTs. It's the era of the worst offensive line play we've ever seen. Not saying LT and OL don't matter. For instance, I want Pitt to take a RT in round one. But I am saying the return you get on your investment on the OL, especially LT/RT, is an an all time low.

And if you argue that this means the line is even more important in some twisted and weird way, I accept that argument.

Okay, but you are falling into a trap of using the best QB on the planet as an example. Pat Mahomes could win a SB with Rifle Middle School as his surrounding cast.

If I have the FQB and I can choose between all world CB and NFL average LT or vise versa, I'm picking the all world LT. Maybe I'm just old school.

When it comes to the importance of an edge rusher vs. any other position not called QB, I will fight you.

There is no logical football person who would choose an all world CB over an all world edge.

I don't think I did, brother. KC hasn't had one. Stafford had Whitworth, who was once elite, but wasn't what he used to be. Donovan Smith was on the Bucs when they won the SB, and he's not elite. I could go further back, but that's kind of my point. I think your point about the average LT over the all-world CB kind of is my point. My stud QB is going to be able to move around the pocket. He's not as beholden to an expensive LT on the roster was old school QB's were back in the day. I would never want a bum to protect my QB's blind side. We agree there.

In regards to edge rusher: it's the second most important position in football. The only exception would be an interior DL who can rush the passer, because if you get up the gut of the offense you usually win. But that's just a caveat.

Edge Rushers > CB's all day.

Well, he cut his teeth under Rick Spielman, the oldest of the old school GMs. It's all but a guaranteed fact that has Spielman or GP drafted Lamar Jackson they would have moved him to WR, that is the kind of thinking we have at GM. For full disclosure I was a total moron also when it came to Lamar, but I don't get paid millions to be wrong, GP does.

But you also left open the possibility that he could become a good player. You weren't in the 100% he couldn't be a good QB ever.

    Slim called Lamar. Beastly call.

****, here we go again, “you don’t need *fill in the blank with whatever position you want* in today’s NFL”. Ya know what teams literally don’t need in today’s NFL? Kirk Cousins, yet here we are defending the Kirk Cousins of LT’s.

The Broncos don’t have Patrick Mahomes, btw.

    Draft
    1st round— Cooper Dejean CB

    6th round— Cash Jones RB
    7th round— Carson Steele RB

Look at all the pass catchers, and I would argue CBs also, that we draft while completely ignoring OL, edge and QB. We never invest premium picks on the cornerstone building blocks of a team.

You build a team from the QB out. The three most important spots to have blue chip talent at is QB, LT and Edge.

This is why if we draft a WR or a CB I am going to lose my mind. Who thinks you should draft 2 blue chip CBs when you have a gaggle of #3 and #4 pass rushers. It might be one thing if there was no edge talent available but in this draft there will be an edge at 12, so if we fo CB at 12 we will know this team has learned nothing.
I might put interior pass rusher ahead of Edge, if there were such a thing anymore.

I agree with that. I don't care too much where the pressure comes from we just need a true #1 pass rush threat way more than another CB VJ can wildly misuse.

Jonny Newton or Byron Murphy would be fine picks. Also my boy Sweat would aid in passrush when he is in by eating blockers. Maybe one of our gaggle of #2s and #3s would look more like a #1 with a little more help on the inside. They all feed off of each other.

None of these BPA non-QB picks, even if the technically right moves, will do a damn thing for my excitement to watch this shit show play next season though if they're going to trot Jarrett Stidham's broke ass out there every game.

I've been witness to way too damn many boring ass shit show QB seasons to give two shits about watching another one.

It would also help the pass rush if we could get a lead every once in a while.
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

I'm sorry that my analysis is based on what actually happens on the field and not old notions that are divorced from reality. It's not fill in whatever position you want.

The connection between that and Kirk Cousins isn't existent. I'm pretty sure you have severe brain damage and should be committed to the funny farm.

    Jaded, you're demoted.

    Chazoe, you're promoted.

    Dogfish, you're fired.
