I think I’ve actually finally reached this stage. I just don’t care about individual players anymore. There isn’t anyone on this roster who I’d be sad to see go or think we couldn’t replace or live without. Such is life when you’re a loser franchise. I just don’t care who these guys are off the field nor do I care about their millionaire personal problems or team loyalty or whatever. Individual stats are for fantasy football. Until the Broncos can return to a winning organization and regain all the respect they’ve lost throughout the league as a perennial contender, I only care about the name on the front of the jersey, not the one on the back.

Most of us have our own opinions on how we can get better as a franchise but none of it matters because the Broncos aren’t listening anyway. I don’t feel sorry for Russ or Simmons (both have made a ton of money from the Broncos) or any of those guys. Both seem to be great men. Both also share in the responsibility of losing seasons. My part of being a fan of a player is over. I doubt I’ll ever buy another jersey. Still rock my Broncos merch, but I’m fine with the DT, Champ, and TD jerseys I already own.

Yup, and I’m creeping ever closer to just being a fan of the game of football, I can watch any team and root for them unless I hate them. The last 25 years of abject arrogance has slowly pinched off the umbilical cord to the Broncos.

I’m one Michael Pratt or Kirk Cousins, one Adam Trautman or Taysom Tebow, away from losing all interest at any given moment.

To be honest, I don’t care about Cousins or Tayson Hill. If Payton thinks he can win with them and brings them in, so be it. If we keep sucking, I’ll shrug my shoulders and find other things to do on Sunday. I wholeheartedly believe that the Broncos need to draft a QB in the first round this year to generate interest from the fanbase and show they’re serious about winning again. No more castoff/failed/journeyman guys from other teams, no more retreads, no more Jarrett Stidham. The Broncos are in a very pivotal place right now. Draft a QB and develop him into FQB mode or you might just lose your fanbase.

If the Broncos sign a loser like Darnold and spend the #12 pick on a DT or TE or whatever other stupid assed shit, I’ll pretty much know they’re still in “reload not rebuild” mode and not to waste my time paying too much attention next season.

You can't pay Stidham ten million bones to be the third string QB.
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Oh, guys. It'll get better. Y'all are made of sterner stuff than this. It's only until year 15 of incompetence that it gets unbearable. This is just the opening salvo of pain.

So you're saying it gets worse?

There is a very good chance it gets much worse. I think the worst scenario is either you're totally inept and picking high each season. Because at that point you could even hit the right guy and then watch him get hurt and start the process over. That would mean the entire culture is dead; former excellence meaning nothing, ala the Raiders. I doubt it happens, though.

    But it could.

We’ll be in the playoffs in two years. I’m personally gonna knee cap Mahomes.

I never thought I'd see the day where AW4M gets whupped up on by Kermit.

He won’t see it coming. I’ll be disguised as a bush. Or possibly mouth breathing white trash, drunk on hamms light, ie a Chiefs fan.

I see someone isn't taking the Chiefs surpassing Denver as an elite franchise very well.

PJ Locke back on 2 years $7 million max $9 M, so looks like Simmons has been replaced.

A healthy PJ Locke and Caden Stern is a good duo for a young rebuilding team. I've seen flashes from both of them. Add a mid tier FA or a draft pick and call it a day.

    I'm okay with that.

My dislike of releasing Simmons is selfish. This is the best thing for him and in all likelihood we weren't going to get anything for him with the way the safety market is. So let a really good guy who has been an absolute workhorse for you go choose his own destiny. The only thing I'd like more than seeing Justin Simmons hoist a SB trophy is seeing the Broncos hoist one. I hope I get to see one of the two in the next 5 years. Odds are way better for Justin.

Enjoy watching Russ run out of a clean pocket into his 40th sack of the year!

    Only then will you understand!!
