Default NFL salary cap set at $255.4M per team for 2024 regular season

The NFL salary cap has taken a historic leap for the 2024 season.

The league announced on Friday that the salary cap will be $255.4 million per club in 2024.

The figure marks an unprecedented $30-plus million rise over last season's cap, which totaled $224.8 million.

Per the NFL, on top of the record salary cap, there will be an additional $74 million per club payment for player benefits, which includes performance-based pay and benefits for retired players. Total 2024 player costs will be $329.4 million per team -- more than $10.5 billion league-wide.

Walmarts already knew I think because they didn't make any panic restructures like the Saints and I think one other team did. Still over the cap, but a restructure gets the team under and trading Jeudy allows room to bring in a player.

    Very insightful

In your option can the Broncos dump Russ? Like asap?

They can cut when league year starts and designate it as a June 1 cut, which is the original speculated plan.

The increased cap may work to tempt them into keeping Russ because now there is the space in 2025 to handle his deal in the event his injury guarantee triggers.

Broncos need to cut RW and take the entire hit this season.

This time next year the Broncos have a full complement of draft picks and more cap space than Kinger has McRibs.

    Draft
    1st round— Cooper Dejean CB
    2nd round— Jack Sawyer OLB
    3rd round— Will Shipley RB
    4th round— Ricky Pearsall WR
    5th round— Ladd McKonkey WR
    6th round— Cash Jones RB
    7th round— Carson Steele RB

Not mathematically practical to take $49 million of a cap hit.

I am interested to see what kind of shenanigans are pulled to eat all $85 million of dead cap this year if that's the plan.

    Are you suggesting cap manipulation?

Practical? I've been living under the impression that the cap is magic for years. However, George Paton my have found a way to prove me wrong. How TF does this guy still have a job?
