The bogus offsides call on Quinn “the belly” Meinerz #77 was the result of the Chief worshipping Cult petitioning their nfl god to bring wrath on the Broncos and our fans for the sin of ridiculing sensitive little Mahomes for the Toney penalty!

NFL should fine the refs for calling such a bogus penalty.

Contrary to popular belief, officials are held accountable. NFL officials are graded on every play. Missed calls result in a downgrade, which can affect playoff assignments. Too many downgrades and they are not invited back the next year. That was a bad call, but to fine them is ridiculous. If they want to start going down that path, they should fine players for every poorly thrown ball, dropped pass, and fumble. Maybe even fine coaches for every bad play call. These guys are human and they make mistakes, just like the players and coaches. I agree that officiating hasn’t been as sharp this year, but why is it officials are the only ones expected to be perfect from the minute they walk on the field and then get better from there?

    Maybe the NFL should . . . ya know . . . make them full-time employees.

It’s still reasonable to expect RW to be RW, instead he’s playing not-to-lose. Which is the gameplan seemingly every week.

I could see this logic if it was only fans always crying about the poor officiating, but I read the experts (retired refs) who are saying the officiating is not of the best quality. No one expects the refs to be perfect, but there is an expectation they are a professional grade of officiating.

I used to think that too, but honestly I’m not sure how much that would help.

Oh no, I agree with you that there have been more issues this year than I can remember in the past. I’m not sure what the issue is.

Default It’s open season on NFL referees and it’s only going to get worse

From the article - One of the comments by Dean Blandino

“There always was pressure, but now with social media, and the access that we have and the technology, I think there’s a disconnect between an on-field official that has to make a call and then we get to evaluate and critique them based on five or six different angles and slow motion and all these bells and whistles that we have, and that’s always been a challenge, but as technology continues to get better and the ability for people to get on social media and complain and show different things, it’s as intense as it’s ever been.”

It was clearly incomplete, but Payton decided not to challenge.

I don't like how the NFL gatekeeps ref metrics. It's an insane ask, to call a perfect game... So why not allow refs who really kill it to get more credit?
