    Default Fire George Paton

You can imagine my surprise to learn nobody had started this thread...

The clock is ticking. I'd be shocked if Paton finishes his contract here; he'll have 3 years of a 6 year deal remaining after this. I just don't see Sean Payton hitching his wagon to a Joe Ellis hire.

The Hackett hire, Russ trade and Gregory signing are his three biggest headlines - unless Russ leads this team to some prolific success, not sure how Paton fits.

Much like with the Lynch pick, Denver should have let Dallas have’em.

He was already demoted when Payton was effectively given final say. I don't think he gets fired.

Paton can hang around as long as he doesn't get to make decisions.

Someone has to make the coffee for those long hours before FA and the draft. But somehow, I think he'll probably **** up the coffee as well.

He'd trade Starbuck’s gift cards for another teams expired store-bought coffee.

I really like his work in the draft a lot, and this off-season felt like he and Payton were on the same page. His record in free agency is not very good, though. If he does stay past this season, they'd do well to pair him with a capable director of pro personnel.
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

A+ take. I don't want to see Paton walk. That's me.

He's an Evero type to me. A winner. Keep him handy.

Like...maybe Evero would be a shit HC, idk. Just like Paton might be better at talent spotting than roster construction or FA or w/e. He's still got some nasty in 'im.

Revisionists history with the Wilson trade . . . again. A world exists where we’d be bitching if he never made the trade, Wilson stayed in Seattle and put up these or Geno Smith numbers.

What exactly has Paton done that makes him a winner? Because it certainly isn't winning.

George Paton will be fired after season ends the next big question is who will Denver get as new GM.

Doesn't really matter who the next GM is as Payton is the de facto GM. Wouldn't surprise me if he somehow lured Mickey Loomis out of New Orleans to work together again - not sure what his contract looks like.
