I would be wrong if that guy wasn't given a warning, and if that lack of warning would depart from the norms of the league. And I would concede that point. I'm just going off of reports, interviews, and what I've seen as a armchair quarterback.
But...I am not wrong insofar as just about every fan on this board would be livid if the tables were turned; I cite to...being here for a long time. And as a man who has rooted for many teams over the years, I am an expert in fan bases.
Does any of this change my typical response of "if you just play better, then you won't be in this absurd position?" to players and teams? Nope. I always go back to that New Orleans playoff run where they wasted home field advantage, short fields, forced turnovers, and a blown lead against the Rams. Yeah, that no call on PI was AWFUL, but that's just not how it works. Then they got the ball first in OT and threw a pick. Sports is the ultimate notion of accountability. But, no one likes hyper-technical calls in general and all that.
Regarding Mahomes: even if he's right and the officiating is shit, it's not the same crew as the week before. I only support the guy because reffing is getting so bad, and they're so pampered, they need to be called out. Dating back to when I covered junior college sports, I've seen too many soft refs. So yeah, I think he got shafted on this one, and last game was oof, but it's not a conspiracy.
Then he'd have to admit that he too has received NUMEROUS gifts from the refs...
A guy clearly half a foot over the line and it's the refs fault for calling it.
You can't complain about refs while at the same time calling them out for an actual good call. There are plenty of bad calls to call out the refs bs job the last couple years...this isn't the one.
1. This is subjective. Many fans are happy the refs are getting blasted, many are sympathetic to the guy/team given the officiating this season.
2. The bias only occurs if one is inconsistent. Which is why I tried to lay out why people hated it: hyper-technical, at the end of the game, doesn't actually give an advantage, no warning was given. The best rebuttal I could give is the refs let the play continue, and it is a game where penalties can occur while a play is completed. Accuracy isn't much of an argument given the context of the play. The ref could turn around and finally call holding on an OL that play, it would be accurate. That would depart from the norms, however. Which is sort of what I'm getting at.
Time to walk the dog. Was fun.

- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Went over to ChiefsPlanet to witness the meltdown yesterday eve. Early on I was fairly surprised to see a majority of the commenters laying the blame squarely on the WR who clearly lined up in the neutral zone. Later the Chiefs apologists started arriving, but a good number of posts still pinned the blame where it belongs; on the player. Quite refreshing actually since lately I've been getting an entitled vibe from that team and many of their fans.
I wanted to marry a woman who was a Chiefs fan. She broke my heart.
