“Can I say this to you?” Payton said, shuffling stuff on his desk.
Of course, you can. Let it rip.
“I’m going to be pissed off if this is not a playoff team,” Payton told USA TODAY Sports.
Also, he specifically called out the GM and President - wouldn't feel great about my job security if I were George Paton or Damani Leech. New sheriff in town.
I'm pretty certain this is not the job George Paton thought he was signing up for 2 years ago. Sean Payton is now the effective GM, with GP as his assistant, even though those aren't their "official" titles - that's how the power structure works. And because of that, I wouldn't be surprised if doesn't make it through his six year contract... Especially if SP keeps throwing bombs.

full article - https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...ch-sources-say"Nathaniel Hackett is a dynamic leader and coach whose intelligence, innovation and charisma impressed us from the very start of this process," Broncos general manager George Paton said in a statement. "In addition to having a brilliant offensive mind, Nathaniel is an outstanding teacher and communicator with a strong vision for all three phases of our team."
IMO Paton was banking on a certain QB coming with Hackett. Paton needs to go.

THIS ONES FOR JOHNWOULD YOU RATHER WIN UGLY, OR LOSE PRETTY?
rest - https://www.si.com/nfl/broncos/news/...al-sean-paytonSince the Denver Broncos acquired head coach Sean Payton via trade from the New Orleans Saints and hired him on a five-year deal, media and fans alike have wondered who has final say over the roster. Is it GM George Paton, entering Year 3 in his role with the team, or Payton?
The Denver Gazette's Woody Paige provided some insider context, answering the question in no uncertain terms in his latest column.
General manager George Paton has survived into his second season. Yet, Paton’s role as the head of football operations has changed. Payton and Paton report to Greg Penner, but Payton is the power in football personnel. Instead of making all the decisions in free agency and the draft, as he did with the previous coach, Paton this time won’t make a pick or a trade without Payton’s approval.
Sean Payton bong rip
- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
Jets game is going to be spicy.
Back to the original thread topic though, there's a few things I'm going to keep an eye on at camp.
1. How is Javonte moving? Is he back to form, or is this smoke and mirrors?
2. How are they going to work Drew Sanders in?
3. How does the new look offensive line look?
4. Which receivers are playing which spots with the first team offense?
Of course we can't watch everything at once, but anyone have requests on anything they want me to keep an eye on? I was looking at last year's TC report that I posted. It's very interesting looking at it again with what happened last season. Hindsight and all. I was dead wrong on Montrell...

Man your report was prescient last year. Makes a lot of sense why the team was totally unprepared for most of the year. Luckily we have practice specialist VJ back in the house!I kid - I trust that Payton is going to have a totally different approach - so obviously I'd love to hear more about that, especially given your observations last year.
Also, the usual, who immediately passes the eye test? Wondering if Payton will keep the undrafted free agent tradition alive this year.
I also don't have a great handle on how the DL rotation is going to shake out. Thanks as always for sharing.
Didn’t Sean Payton say something about staying out of the news and off social media?
Do as I say, not as I do.

Some people need to get their feelings hurt. For the last 7 years post Kubiak, the franchise has been an embarrassment and everyone needs to feel ashamed for the product put onto the field. It has been absolutely pathetic to go from having a winning season pretty much every year to a pile of garbage for the last 7.
Payton is absolutely right in his assessment and I applaud him for raising the stakes again.
