Thread: Vance Joseph: Return to Broncos as DC all about winning

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - If Vance Joseph can walk the same path as one of his coaching mentors did in Denver, he figures everything will work out just fine.

Joseph, who was fired as head coach by the Broncos after the 2018 season, has returned to the team as Sean Payton's defensive coordinator. And as the team nears the end of its offseason program - the final day of minicamp is scheduled for Thursday - Joseph said he simply believed a return was the right move at the right time.

"For me ... it's a league of winning, if you don't win there's going to be change,'' Joseph said in his first public comments since he was hired earlier this year. "It was never personal for me. I came here (as the head coach) and I worked my butt off and it didn't work. I'm back now and that's my focus, (to) play great defense for Sean and win some games.

I forgot how much I hate listening to this guy.

I mean the Nuggets win their first ever championship and then Carol goes and ruins the week by posting about this clown.

I never cared about listening to the guy because he comes across as really thoughtful and intelligent, and seems to know his stuff. He does appear to study film and follow patterns in the league, and his deeper analysis spills into his interviews which I personally find insightful. My issue with him while he was here was that the words and the game plan didn't match the production. The Hack made VJ look like Vince Lombardi by comparison, and Fangio was only marginally better at game management, so now I honestly don't have lingering grudges or issues with VJ.

Well it seems that all is kiss and make up. And no hard feelings. Maybe better as an assistant than a head coach!

He just wasn't ready to be a head coach. He's a good dude.

I like Vance Joseph. I hope he kicks azz as DC for the Broncos.

We’re about to find out if Kubiak was as stupid as it seems for wanting VJ before “settling” for Wade Phillips.

We had a really good week of practice.

If I never hear that again it will be too soon.
