    Default Mlb 2023

Well, it's that time. Time for the Rockies to suck completely and be out of the run for the playoffs by mid April. Still love baseball season though. But I actually watch more college softball than baseball the last couple of years. Those ladies are fun to watch. One of the most underrated sports ever, but I digress. Let's talk baseball.

    In that vein I'll ask
Who had the most badass presence on the pitching mound and why is it a tie between Bob Gibson and Nolan Ryan?

He was the best pitcher ever to be from Copenhagen but didn't chew Copenhagen.

Well, this is the season we absolutely suck. I can only hope that by purging the roster of the stupid luxury tax salaries we can wheel-and-deal next season. I'll be shocked if we're over .500 this season.

Randy Johnson is my pick. Gibson was kind of a pouty-ho, tbh. So much of his presence was tied to the mound being higher than some other eras and being able to bean you with no repercussion. Ryan was the real ******* deal. If a pitcher couldn't mean someone's ass their mound presence doesn't mean poop. That is, if you go by my definition of course.

This thread is hot garbage. It reminds me of my enthusiasm for MLB this year. Bleh!!!!! Too bad.

To rekindle a spark of the love I was once had for this, the greatest of all games I looked up some of my favorite deadball era stories. Here is a very quick, like one minute long, article about arguably the most interesting character from the most interesting era of baseball. https://fantasticfacts.net/6099/

Let that be a springboard that catapults you into the Rube Waddell rabbit hole and maybe even that era of baseball, by far the most fascinating. I only wish baseball would have been integrated from the start, would have made these stories even more amazing, though there are a shit ton of cool stories surrounding the negro leagues at the same time. Though, a lot more terrible stories as well. For that look up Roy Campanella, possibly the greatest catcher who ever lived. Ty Cobb said Roy Campanella was the best player he had ever seen. He had a lot of respect for the position of catcher.

Old, old, old school baseball is wild as ****.

Why are you unenthusiastic about baseball this season?

The Rockies are just insupportable. And IDK, I think I need a couple years off to come off of what was a very emotional end to my son playing baseball. I'll get back into it eventually.
