I'm a bit late to this party, and I agree and disagree with your take. As much as I hate to admit it, I side with James Merilatt here:

At first glance, the Broncos big spending in free agency makes perfect sense. Because of the trades for Russell Wilson and Sean Payton, Denver only has five draft picks in April, with none in the first two rounds. So if they’re going to patch holes on the roster, writing checks in March is their only viable route.

And the players they’ve signed seem to suggest that’s exactly what they’re doing. Nearly every weak spot has been addressed.

Right tackle? The Broncos signed Mike McGlinchey.

Left guard. Ben Powers is the answer.

Defensive line? Zach Allen will replace Dre’Mont Jones.

Running back? Samaje Perine is a perfect bridge until Javonte Williams returns.

The list goes on and on. Check. Check. Check.

Did Dick Monfort write this post?

Hawg's all like, *Dave Chappelle imitating a white person voice* "I'm merely asking the question, what if we acquired shittier players? Wouldn't that enhance our feeling of accomplishment when we win?"

/snark - I do feel like there are a lot of mitigating factors for spending this year - new staff, new owners, new philosophies (goodbye ZBS). But beyond all of that, we should be glad that we have an ownership group who is eager to write checks. Let's not overthink this until we get into Albert Haynseworth territory.

You know you're engagement farming when Joe is copying and pasting James Merilatt columns in response!

    I love FA so far.

Probably too many shitty high-priced tackles that became busts...it's my FA PTSD.

Then the idea that since so much money was thrown at problems, that they are necessarily solved...look. I'm just skeptical by nature.

But fer fuggin real...I love FA so far. Let's not get carried away. My point is a nuance.

Probably a worthless nuance! But that's how I roll.

Honestly Okung wasn't a bust and had productive years for the Chargers before finally bouncing. Keeping him would have bought additional years to develop talent instead of being forced to take Bolles.

James was a disaster. Every RT signing where we thought "okay solved" was a disaster. McGlinchey isn't James, and actually has started entire seasons before. Nothing about James screamed "wow here is a yearly starter" prior to his signing.

Dude, I know. There's a conversation in my head and a calmer me brings up these salient points.

    PTSD doesn't need logic.

Yeah if we all didn't have some passion, what's the point? Just gotta let love overcome in the end. :*

I love everyone here, always have.

Well except this one dude with a 4 story house, never had much use for him.
